A pandemia do COVID-19 chegou de modo que a escola teve que sair do seu espaço físico. O desafio foi muito grande, e, constantemente, estamos percebendo a superação do professor em incríveis relatos presentes em diferentes plataformas de divulgação. O livro "Crianças e Docência: Experiências para além da escola", propõe-se a ser mais uma plataforma de divulgação e construção de redes de diálogos entre diferentes experiências exitosas no ambiente escolar fora do espaço físico, seja no momento da pandemia, ou no período pré-pandemia, em que muita coisa boa já acontecia e a escola demonstrava o seu valor, contribuindo para a justiça social.Os capítulos iniciais focarão em algumas reflexões relacionadas à pandemia e ao espaço escolar. Em seguida, teremos algumas reflexões que são necessárias nesse momento em que a escola precisa romper fronteiras e ir para além do seu espaço físico. Por fim, encerraremos o livro com experiências exitosas de áreas de conhecimentos específicos: Matemática, Português, Educação Física e Ciências.Raquel Conte, no capítulo 1, escreve sobre "os novos arranjos da infância diante da pandemia". O seu texto discute o impacto do isolamento social e do uso de tecnologias digitais na educação à distância para o desenvolvimento emocional infantil.A autora alerta que, apesar do período de pandemia, a escola e seu papel na vida das famílias podem ser primordiais para que as crianças pequenas superem suas dificuldades em relação ao vínculo fusional com a mãe, ou ainda, que as crianças maiores ampliem suas redes de contato.No capítulo 2, que tem como título "Pandemias e educação: um panorama histórico entre a gripe espanhola e a COVID-19", o autor Lucas Mattos, convida-nos a refletir e comparar a educação no período de pandemia atual e a pandemia da gripe espanhola.
