The effect of variations in the bulk relaxation time with electron energy on transport properties of thin metal films is analyzed in general terms. The existence of correlated size effects in thermoelectric power and temperature coefficient of resistivity is shown; vanishing of size effects is predicted in a special case. In limiting cases the proposed equations agree with previously published results. Some details from the Mayadas‐Shatzkes conduction model are emphasized.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
