For the last 4 years the radon concentrations in the atmosphere of a Yugoslav uranium mine have been periodically measured. The concentrations of zlOPo in the urine of miners are also determined. The potential sources of zloPb and 210Po and the possibility of correlation radon exposure and polonium excretion in the urine are discussed. Certain assumptions lead to a very rough estimate of integral exposure of miners to radon. To elucidate one of the many problems encountered in a more detailed study of this correlation, a method for determination of zlOPo in the dust of the uranium mine was developed. Radium and uranium can be determined simultaneously with polonium.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
