EMG activities of masseter muscles right (MD), masseter left (ME), temporal right (TD), temporal left (TE), orbicular muscle of mouth, right upper segment (OSD) and left (OSE) and muscle supra-hioideo (SH) on condition of
Abstract:Osteoarthrosis is a chronic, degenerative joint disease considered to be severe and limiting, damaging the synovial joints, which has a low regenerative capacity and response to treatments. This study evaluated by means of electromyographic activity if osteoarthrosis promotes functional alteration in the stomatognathic system. There were 28 participants who were divided in two groups: 14 individuals with osteoarthrosis and 14 individuals without osteoarthrosis. The electromyographic evaluation of right masseter (RM), left masseter (LM), right temporal (RT) and left temporal (LT) muscles was performed in rest, maximum voluntary contraction, right and left laterality, protrusion and mastigation. Keywords:Osteoarthrosis, electromyography, masticatory muscles.
