Die Trifluormethylorganometall‐Verbindungen (I)‐(III) werden bei der Umsetzung von durch Glimmentladung aus Hexafluoräthan erzeugten Trifluormethyl‐Radikalen mit Hg(II)‐halogeniden, Te‐tetrabromid oder ‐chlorid, Sn‐tetrajodid oder Ge‐tetrabromid gebildet.
Der Einfluß einer Methylenkette zwischen der Methoxylgruppe und dem Si‐ bzw. Ge‐ Atom auf die Lewis‐Basizität der Äther (II), (IV), (V I) und (V II) [dargestellt aus den entsprechenden Halogenäthern (I) und KSiH3 bzw. KGeH3, in den Fällen (IV) und (VI) abweichend aus den Äthern (III) bzw. (V); (VII) nach bekannter Vorschrift] wurde anhand der Frequenzverschiebung der OH‐Valenzschwingung von Methanol bei der Komplexbildung mit den Basen ermittelt.
