Various non-equilibrium forms of phase, structure, and substructure are found in films of permalloy, Fe, Ni, and Co prepared by vacuum deposition. They consist of mixtures of stable and metastable modifications (in condensates of Co), growth texture, orientated and disorientated microstresses, high grade of dispersion of blocks, and intense concentrations of stacking faults. These structural peculiarities are determined by preparation conditions and the heat treatment of the film. A correlation is observed between condensate structure and some magnetic properties. The coercive force of films of Co depends to a considerable extent on the phase composition and less on texture perfection; orientated microstresses and growth texture affect the magnetic anisotropy in the direction normal to the film and a h the domain structure, coercive force, remanence, etc.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
