This study was aimed to investigate the advantages and disadvantages of the e-learning system and distinguish the concepts of e-learning and distance education. The study population included 40 managers from five contact centers, 20 of which comprised a control group that did not undergo specialized training. The companies under consideration were representatives of the Russian domestic market and did not operate abroad. As a result of the experiment, the average number of sales of managers who underwent training increased by 20% in relation to the previous period. In the control group, the number of sales remained the same. In this regard, the introduction of gamification in particular, and e-learning as a whole, can be deemed a useful strategy to improve organizational activity not only in big companies but also in SMEs. Moreover, taking into account the lower cost of online education compared to traditional learning courses, web-based training remains an excellent alternative for SMEs since expenses on its implementation will be fully paid off by the received profit.
The purpose of the study was to analyze the medical representatives' activities aimed on information support for promoted medications. The assessment of the medical representatives' activity by doctors, pharmacists, and chemists was used to do so. The following methods of the study were used: comparative, structural and system analysis, as well as sociological methods of research (survey and interview). As a result of the study, it has been found that the activity of medical representatives is one of the main ways to obtain information about medications by medical or pharmaceutical workers, but the objectivity and completeness of the information received largely depends on the contact frequency and trust in the information materials provided. Following the results of the study, recommendations have been developed for improving the activities of medical representatives and their interaction with pharmaceutical organizations and doctors.
BACKGROUND: Despite the apparent advantages of the flipped classroom model especially during a pandemic or natural or technogenic disasters, its overall effectiveness in higher medical and pharmaceutical education continues to be debated. AIM: The goal of the study was to test the effectiveness and acceptability of using the flipped classroom model during the COVID-19 pandemic in higher pharmaceutical education based on the example of the “Pharmaceutical Marketing” discipline at Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Russia. METHODS: The study involved 156 fourth-year pharmacy students. They were divided into three clusters: FC – studying in accordance with the flipped classroom model, FC+TBL – using the flipped classroom technology combined with the team-based method, and CC – studying by the traditional scheme (control). The study used the Unified educational portal of the Sechenov University. Additional elements were developed for the electronic educational and methodical complex for the studied section “Analysis of the marketing environment of a pharmaceutical organization.” The effectiveness of the flipped classroom model was evaluated through test control (entrance, formative, thematic, and final) and control of the development of skills and abilities in solving situational problems (thematic and final). The study participants’ attitude toward the use of the flipped classroom model was assessed through a survey. RESULTS: The study demonstrated that students from the FC and FC+TBL clusters were significantly better prepared for practical lessons and worked more effectively and productively during these classes compared to the CC cluster students. The results of the final control also substantiate the advantages of the flipped classroom technology both in assessing practical skills and abilities and in testing. The opportunities for rational implementation of the complex technology (FC+TBL cluster) are identified. CONCLUSIONS: The analysis of students’ general opinion on the flipped classroom model shows that 90.4% of the FC cluster members and 84.6% of the FC+TBL cluster members are satisfied with the results of using this model and consider it suitable for studying both the “Analysis of the marketing environment of a pharmaceutical organization” section and the entire pharmaceutical marketing course. Students’ positive feedback on the use of the flipped classroom model provides grounds for further implementation of this technology in the “Pharmaceutical Marketing” discipline in its entirety and demonstrates that further research on the use of other blended learning models is quite promising.
BACKGROUND: The spread of phytocomplex application and justification of its selective effects on tumour cells (mainly due to the presence of flavonoids) require research of its cytotoxic and immunomodulatory activity. AIM: The goal was to study the direct cytotoxic effect of the phytocomplex and its modulating effect on the cytotoxic activity of the donor's mononuclear blood cells in in vitro experiments. METHODS: The phytocomplex was a dry extract from marsh cinquefoil, creeping alfalfa and common hop; its main active ingredients were flavonoids. Transplantable monolayer cultures of lung adenocarcinoma, colorectal cancer, erythroblastic leukaemia, and fibroblasts were used as target cells. The cytotoxic activity was assessed using a cytotoxic test based on the selective ability to live cells to reduce MTT (3-[4, 5-dimethyltriazol-2-yl]-2, 5 diphenyltetrazolium bromide) to formazan in mitochondria. Quantitative determination of formazan was performed using spectrophotometry. RESULTS: A direct cytotoxic effect of the phytocomplex in concentrations of at least 2.5 mg/ml on tumour cells has been established. Its modulating effect on the cytotoxic activity of mononuclear blood cells at a concentration of 0.05 mg/ml was shown. The phytocomplex in doses of 0.25 and 0.5 mg/ml increased the killer activity of the mononuclear cells in a diseased person's blood, but did not affect these blood cells in a healthy donor. Incubation of lymphocytes with a phytocomplex for 24 hours increased the cytotoxic activity of mononuclear cells by 20-25%. CONCLUSION: The direct cytotoxic effect of the phytocomplex and its modulating effect on the cytotoxic activity of mononuclear blood cells in model experiments in vitro have been established.
