This paper introduces and compares two estimators of populationproportions from a dichotomous population when using randomized response sampling with a normal, randomizing distribution. Both maximum likelihood and methods of moments are compared by computer simulation for varioue population percentagee, number of trials per respondent, and values of means and standard deviations for the randomizing distribution. The two methods are applied to survey data and the results compared to direct survey data.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
