RESUMO -As ligas de alumínio baseadas no ternário Al-Cu-Si (ASTM 231.1) possuem considerável importância tecnológica devido a sua baixa densidade, relativamente baixo ponto de fusão e boa resistência mecânica específica comparadas ao aço. Essas ligas são empregadas na indústria automobilística e aeroespacial. No entanto, apesar de sua importância tecnológica, suas propriedades termofísicas, úteis aos processos de fabricação, que envolvam transferência de calor, como, soldagem, fundição e tratamentos termomecânicos, são escassas na literatura. Propõe-se nesse trabalho, um levantamento de algumas destas propriedades, como, massa especifica em função da temperatura, entalpia de transformação e calores específicos para a liga Al-6%pCu-1%pSi, através da termodinâmica computacional. Os resultados simulados para massa específica em função da temperatura com relação aos resultados experimentais obtidos na literatura para as ligas de alumínio A319 e 7075 validam de forma satisfatória o modelo proposto. INTRODUÇÃOAs ligas de alumínio vêm sendo muito utilizadas nas indústrias, como de aeronáuticas, que desde a década de 1930 substituiu muitas peças de metais por peças de alumínio, devido as suas propriedades peculiares como alta resistência mecânica especifica, boa resistência à corrosão e reciclabilidade dentre outras propriedades físico-químicas. As propriedades resultantes que serão úteis para cada aplicação específica, determinadas pelos metais e usadas pela quantidade de cada metal na liga, pela estrutura do arranjo cristalino das ligas, pelo tamanho e arrumação dos cristais e pelos tratamentos adicionais que podem se realizar. Desta forma, a determinação experimental das propriedades termofísicas deveria contemplar espectro muito amplo de combinações de elementos de liga, o que na prática torna-se inviável pelo elevado custo de equipamentos e consumíveis. Para determinação experimental da massa específica com a amostra nas formas solida, de pó, de pasta e líquida sob certas condições controladas de tempo e temperatura, a técnica mais empregada é a dilatometria (Blum e Henderson, 2000). O método de levitação eletromagnética de gota, geralmente utilizado para medir propriedades termofísicas a elevadas temperaturas, foi pela primeira vez aplicada para medida de massa específica de líquidos por Brooks e colaboradores (Brooks et al., 1997). Neste método, uma gota de metal de massa conhecida é aquecida e levitada, então imagens ópticas da gota são tomadas em três direções ortogonais que serão utilizadas para determinação do volume da gota. A ASTM 319.2 é utilizada na indústria automobilística e aeroespacial. Todavia, apesar de sua importância tecnológica, suas propriedades termofísicas, úteis a processos de fabricação, que envolvam transferência de calor, tais como, soldagem, fundição e tratamentos termomecânicos, geralmente são escassas na literatura. Propõe-se nesse trabalho, um levantamento de algumas destas propriedades, tais como massa específica em função da temperatura, entalpia de transformação e calores específicos para a liga Al-9%pSi-3%pCu, através do uso da Termodinâmica Computacional, pelo emprego do Programa Thermo-Calc, base de dados TTAL7, interface TCAPI e um modelo escrito em linguagem C. Simulações numéricas serão comparadas com dados encontrados na literatura para validação do modelo proposto.
