Palavras-chave: resistência a herbicidas, glyphosate, competição. Palavras-chave: herbicida, comportamento no solo, cromatografia, isotermas de Freundlich.ABSTRACT -The objective of this work was to determine the coefficients of ametryn sorption and desorption in Red-Yellow Ultisol (PVA) and Red-Yellow Latosol (LVA) with different pH values. Thus, 0-20 cm depth soil samples were collected from degraded pastures without the use of herbicide in the region of Viçosa-MG, and incubated or not with limestone for 90 days. The Batch slurry method was used under controlled laboratory conditions. The method consisted of using 10.0 mL solution at increasing concentrations of ametryn standard, prepared in 0.01 mol L -1 CaCl 2 solution, added to 2.00 g of soil, and remaining under rotating agitation for 12 h (pre-determined equilibrium time). After centrifugation and filtration, the supernatant concentration was determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV detector of 245 nm. Desorption was evaluated using the samples contained in the tubes, after the sorption trials, which contained the initial dose of 25 mg L -1 of herbicide. The PVA presented the highest adsorption coefficient (K fa ) compared to the LVA,regardless of the pH values of the samples. This was attributed to the higher organic matter content in the PVA, compared to the LVA. When comparing the same soil (LVA) at different pH values, it was observed that pH value increase resulted in a lower K fa value. Low hysteresis indices were observed for...
The effects of glyphosate on the foliar levels of nutrients in three coffee cultivars (Coffea arabica) were evaluated in this work. A factorial (3 x 5) was used in a randomized block design with four replications, with treatments consisting of three coffee varieties: Catucaí Amarelo (2 SL), Oeiras (MG-6851) and Topázio (MG-1190) and five glyphosate doses (0, 57.6, 115.2, 230.4 and 460.8 g ha-1). At 45 and 120 DAA, leaves (third pair) from plagiotrophic branches were collected from the medium part of the plants. Glyphosate intoxication symptoms were characterized by chlorosis and leaf narrowing for the three coffee varieties. There was a reduction in foliar levels of N, P, K, Cu and Zn at 45 DAA, and N, K, Mn and Zn at 120 DAA, in coffee plants treated with glyphosate, regardless of the cultivar used. Cultivar Topázio showed the greatest reductions in the foliar levels of Fe and Mn, at 45 DAA and P and Fe, at 120 DAA, when treated with glyphosate.
Palavras-chave: atividade fotossintética, Lolium multiflorum, incremento de massa.ABSTRACT -Characteristics associated with photosynthetic activity of ryegrass biotypes, susceptible and resistant to glyphosate, were evaluated under different competition levels. The experiment was installed in a factorial design, with two ryegrass biotypes, susceptible and resistant to glyphosate, growing in the plot center, surrounded by 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 plants of the opposite biotype. Fifty days after emergence, stomatal gas flow rate (U µmol s 1 ), sub-stomatal CO 2 concentration (Ci -µmol mol -1 ) and photosynthetic rate (A µmol m -2 s -1 ) were evaluated, with the CO 2 used in photosynthesis (∆C -µ m o l mol -1 ) being calculated as the difference between the reference CO 2 and the CO 2 in the evaluation chamber. Data were collected using an infrared gas analyzer (IRGA), model LCA4 (ADC Company), followed by building a correlation matrix between the variables. The ryegrass biotypes susceptible and resistant to glyphosate did not differ in relation to the photosynthetic activity in absence of competition. However, the photosynthetic rate was reduced in function of increasing competition with plants of the opposite biotype for both the resistant and susceptible biotypes, and for the resistant biotype when in competition with plants of the same biotype. This behavior was attributed to reciprocal shading and light competition.
-The study of the dynamics of a herbicide in the soil focus on the interactions with environmental components to obtain agronomic efficiency, ensuring selectivity to the culture and risk reduction of environmental impact. This study evaluated the sorption process of fomesafen in the Brazilian soils Ultisol, Cambisol, and Organosol. Besides soil, washed sand was used as an inert material for determination of the sorption ratio of fomesafen in the soil. The bioassay method was applied, using Sorghum vulgare plants as bio-indicator of herbicide presence. Plant poisoning evaluation and harvest for dry matter determination were carried out 21 days after sorghum sowing. To calculate C 50, the nonlinear log-logistic model was applied and sorption ratios of the herbicide were obtained in different soils. The decreasing sorption ratio of formesafen in the soils was: Organosol > Ultisol > Cambisol. It was concluded that the contents of organic matter and clay in the soils were the attributes that most influenced fomesafen sorption. Keywords: bioassay, carryover, environmental impact.
A method has been optimized and validated for the determination of fomesafen in soils using solid-liquid extraction with low-temperature partitioning (SLE/LTP) and analysis by liquid chromatography with a high-efficiency diode array detector (HPLC/DAD). The method was used to evaluate the persistence and mobility of this herbicide in different soils cultivated with bean plants. Recovery values were ≥98.9 %, with variations in the repeatability coefficients of ≤15 %, and a detection limit of 7.3 μg kg(-1). Half-life values of fomesafen were between 60 and 71 days in soil cultivated using a no-till system and 99 and 114 days in soil cultivated using a conventional tillage system. The mobility of fomesafen was moderate and mainly influenced by the organic matter content, pH, and soil type. In Red-Yellow Argisol, which has a higher content of organic matter, the leaching of fomesafen was less pronounced. In Red-Yellow Latosol, which has smaller amounts of organic matter and high pH, the leaching of fomesafen was more pronounced.
Palavras-chave: Coffea arabica, herbicida, EPSPs.ABSTRACT -This study aimed to evaluate the effects of simulated glyphosate drift on the growth of two cultivars with distinct growing patterns. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design, with four repetitions, and the treatments were distributed in a factorial scheme 2x5, with two cultivars in the first factor and the glyphosate subdoses (0, 57.6; 115.2; 230.4 and 460.8 g ha -1 ) in the second factor. On the day glyphosate was applied and at 45 and 120 days after application (DAA), height, leaf area, stem diameter, and number of plagiotropic branches and leaves were evaluated; at 10, 45 and 120 DAA, plant intoxication symptoms were visually evaluated and at 120 DAA, dry mass accumulation of the stem, leaves, and roots was evaluated. The intoxication symptoms of the coffee plants caused by glyphosate were characterized by chlorosis and leaf narrowing in the two cultivars studied. However, more severe symptoms were verified in the Acaiá cultivars from 10 DAA on, such as necrosis of younger leaves in the median part of the plant. It was concluded that Acaiá cultivar is less tolerant to glyphosate than Catucaí cultivar, since it showed lower growth when submitted to herbicide treatment, i.e., tolerance can vary between cultivars with distinct growing patterns.
The objective of this work was to evaluate ametryn leaching potential in soil used for pasture in Brazil (Red-Yellow Latosol (LVA) and Red-Yellow Ultisol (PVA)) with different pH values. Thus, 120 treatments were evaluated (four soils related to three rainfall intensities and 10 soil column depths). The experiments were arranged in a completely randomized design in split-plots and three replications. PVC columns of 10 cm diameter by 50 cm length were filled with the soil samples, moistened and placed upright for 48 hours to drain the excess water. The herbicide was applied and rainfall was simulated on top of the columns at intensities specified according to the treatment. After 72 hours, the columns were opened longitudinally, placed in a horizontal position and soil samples were collected at each 5 cm interval depth for posterior herbicide extraction and quantification by liquid chromatography (HPLC). The remaining soil columns were sown with the indicator species (Cucumis sativus) in the substrate along the opening to evaluate ametryn leaching. After 21days of emergence, evaluations were conducted to verify the intoxication symptoms caused by ametryn in the plants. It was concluded that soils with low organic matter content and/or higher pH showed higher ametryn leaching rates, and that the bioassay method was more efficient in confirming ametryn leaching than liquid chromatography.
