Magnetic field reconnection plays a crucial role in determining the topology of magnetic fields in cosmic plasmas and also provides an efficient way for the conversion of magnetic energy into kinetic energy. Much work has been done on this topic in many interrelated fields of interest by many researchers. The author's primary field of interest is magnetospheric physics, in particular, magnetic reconnection processes in the dayside magnetopause and the magnetotail. Understanding of these processes has improved greatly over the past 3 decades, but there is still much work to be done.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
