Die partielle Entwasserung von Hydrargillit-Kristallen sowie von rnikrokristallinen Bohmit-Gelen fuhrt zu festen Substanzen rnit absorbierenden Eigenschaften. Die therrnische Stabilitat des kristallinen Bohrnits i s t zu grol3, urn entsprechende therrnische Spaltungsprodukte zu geben. Die durch nahezu vollstandige Entwkserung entstehenden festen Substanzen haben je nach den Ausgangshydraten verschiedene kristalline Strukturen. Die katalytische Aktivitat wird durch diese Unterschiede beeinflufit. Therrnogravirnetrisch, rontgenographisch sowie durch Untersuchungen der spezifischen Oberflache und der Porositat konnen die fur Adsorption und Katalyse aktiven Phasen erfaRt und i h r Bildungsrnechanismus beschrieben werden. EinfuhrungTeilweise oder nahezu vollstandig entwasserte Aluminiumoxyd-hydrate werden einerseits als adsorbierende Substanzen (Austrocknung, Wiedergewinnung von Losungsmitteln, Trennungschromatographie usw.), andererseits als Katalysatoren oder Yatalysatorbestandteile verwendet.Es hat sich gezeigt, daR die W a h l d e r A u s g a n g s s u bs t a n z und die Art des thermischen Abbaues fur die Eigenschaften der Endprodukte bestimmend sind. Zahlreiche Untersuchungen der letzten Jahre sind daher der thermischen Spaltung der Aluminiumhydroxyde gewidmet. Russell und Cochranl), Stumpf, Russell, Newsome und Tuckerz), Fricke und Mitarbb.3) sowie Thibon, Charrier und Tertian4) untersuchten die Entwicklung des Kristallgefuges, der spezifischen Oberflache, die Entstehung der Poren und die h d e r u n g e n der PorengroBe wahrend der thermischen Zersetzung der vier z. Zt. bekannten Aluminiumhydrate, ohne jedoch immer eine genugende Erklarung fur die zahlreichen Beobachtungen zu geben.Um die groRte spezifische Oberflache des Zersetzungsproduktes zu erhalten, ist es notig, Hydrargillit und Bayerit so zu behandeln, da8 ihr Gehalt an Konstitutionswasser zwischen 6 bis 9 % zu liegen kommt, wie Russell und Cochranl) gezeigt haben. Die spezifische Oberflache scheint jedoch nicht allein ma8gebend zu sein, weil die Aluminiumhydroxyd-Gele, die bekanntlich ihre groRe Oberflache schon wahrend der Fallung erhalten, trotzdem bis an denselben Gehalt an konstitutionell gebundenem Wasser gebracht werden mussen, um gute Adsorbentien zu liefern.Wir versuchen in der vorliegenden Arbeit, die g e m e i ns a m e n Eigenschaften hervorzuheben, die den aus v e rsc h i e d e n e n Aluminiumhydroxyden erhaltenen festen Substanzen dieselbe Grenzflachenaktivitat fur die Adsorption verleihen.
