RESUMOPráticas diferenciadas de manejo resultam em condições físicas de superfície e subsuperfície do solo distintas, as quais, por sua vez, resultam em níveis de erosão hídrica variados. Com isto em mente, realizou-se um estudo a campo com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito de formas de preparo e cultivo do solo e de manejo dos resíduos culturais em algumas de suas condições físicas de superfície e subsuperfície, em relação à erosão hídrica, durante 5,5 anos. Para tal, utilizouse chuva simulada sobre um Argissolo Vermelho distrófico típico, bastante degradado pelo manejo anterior, com declividade de 0,08 m m -1 . Os tratamentos consistiram dos cultivos de milho e aveia preta, em semeadura direta e em preparo convencional de solo (este com incorporação e com remoção dos resíduos culturais), e do sem cultivo, em preparo convencional de solo (testemunha). Tais tratamentos encontravam-se na condição de solo recém-mobilizado, ou consolidado, e desprovido de cobertura vegetal por ocasião dos testes de erosão com chuva simulada. Estes, em número de dez, foram realizados com o simulador de chuva de braços rotativos, na intensidade de 64 mm h -1 e duração de 90 min, logo após a colheita de uma cultura e o preparo do solo, ou não, para o estabelecimento da cultura seguinte. A incorporação sistemática dos resíduos culturais ao solo recuperou sua estrutura e diminuiu a perda de solo praticamente em 3/4, comparada a sua remoção, resultando também na menor perda de solo no estudo. RESUMOO aumento da biomassa vegetal subterrânea e da estabilidade dos agregados do solo pelo seu manejo adequado aumentam sua capacidade para infiltrar água da chuva e resistir à erosão hídrica. Baseado nesta premissa, foi realizado um estudo de erosão em campo, sob chuva simulada, na Estação Experimental Agronômica da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul -EEA/UFRGS, em Eldorado do Sul (RS), no verão de 2003/2004, utilizando um experimento de manejo do solo com 7,5 anos de duração. O objetivo da pesquisa foi investigar relações entre variáveis de manejo e de erosão, relacionadas à história de uso e manejo do solo e suas condições físicas superficiais momentâneas, criadas por tratamentos de seu preparo e de cobertura por resíduo cultural, os quais foram aplicados imediatamente antes da realização de testes de erosão com chuva simulada. Utilizou-se um Argissolo Vermelho distrófico típico, com textura superficial francoargilo-arenosa e declividade média de 0,115 m m -1 . Foram estudadas quatro seqüências culturais, com ou sem preparo (gradagem) e cobertura (resíduo cultural) do solo. Realizaram-se três testes de erosão com chuva simulada, cada um na intensidade de 64 mm h -1 e duração de 1,5 h, usando o aparelho simulador de braços rotativos. Avaliaram-se a massa de raízes mortas das plantas, o diâmetro médio ponderado de agregados do solo, a taxa constante de infiltração de água no solo e a perda total de água e de solo por erosão. A infiltração de água no solo foi maior e, inversamente, a perda de água menor no solo recém-mobilizado (superfície solta e rugosa) do que no solo não-mobilizado (superfície firme e praticamente lisa), mesmo o primeiro estando descoberto e o segundo tanto coberto quanto descoberto, com diferenças entre as seqüências culturais. RESUMOIndependentemente do sistema de preparo, as condições superficiais do solo que regem o processo erosivo pela água da chuva se alteram durante o desenvolvimento da cultura de milho. Ao mesmo tempo, as condições físicas de superfície do solo que maneam as perdas de solo são distintas das que conduzem as perdas de água por erosão. A hipótese desta pesquisa foi que essas alterações ocorridas durante o desenvolvimento da cultura do milho reduziriam as perdas de solo, mas não alterariam as perdas de água por erosão. Com base nisso, realizou-se este trabalho com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito de diferentes condições físicas de superfície do solo, criadas por métodos de seu preparo, nas perdas de solo e água por erosão hídrica (causada por chuva simulada), em três momentos de crescimento da cultura do milho. O estudo foi desenvolvido na EEA/UFRGS, município de Eldorado do Sul, RS, em Argissolo Vermelho distrófico típico, com textura franco-argiloarenosa no horizonte A e declividade média de 0,08 m m -1 . Os tratamentos estudados, estabelecidos sobre resíduos culturais (recém-colhidos) de aveia-preta, foram: preparo convencional (uma aração+duas gradagens -A+2G), preparo reduzido 1 (uma escarificação+uma gradagem -E+G), preparo reduzido 2 (apenas uma escarificação -E), semeadura direta 1 (semeadora-adubadora provida de facões ou hastes sulcadoras para colocação do fertilizante na profundidade de 12 cm -SDf), semeadura direta 2 (semeadoraadubadora desprovida de hastes sulcadoras, mas contendo discos-duplos desencontrados para colocação das sementes na profundidade de 5 cm -SDd) e tratamento testemunha (preparo convencional -aração+duas gradagens -, porém sem cultivo do solo -parcela padrão ou unitária -T), seguidos da semeadura do
RESUMOVários fatores determinam a seletividade do processo de erosão hídrica pluvial no que se refere ao tamanho dos sedimentos transportados na enxurrada. Dentre eles, destacam-se a intensidade da chuva e da enxurrada a ela associada, a textura e o grau de consolidação da camada superficial do solo, a forma em que a erosão ocorre (entre sulcos, sulco ou voçoroca), a cobertura do solo por resíduos culturais, o microrrelevo do terreno ou a rugosidade superficial resultante do seu preparo e o tamanho e a estabilidade dos agregados do solo. Considerando isso, realizou-se este trabalho com o propósito de estabelecer relações quantitativas entre o índice D 50 da distribuição de tamanho dos sedimentos erodidos, a velocidade da enxurrada, o índice IR da rugosidade superficial do solo criada pelo preparo e o diâmetro médio ponderado (DMP) dos agregados do solo, em solo submetido a diferentes formas de manejo. O estudo foi desenvolvido em campo, na Estação Experimental Agronômica da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (EEA/UFRGS), em Eldorado do Sul (RS), aplicando-se chuva simulada sobre um Argissolo Vermelho com textura francoargiloarenosa na camada superficial e declividade média de 0,115 m m -1 . Esse solo havia sido submetido ao uso agrícola de diferentes modos (cultivos contínuo e interrompido), com diferentes sequências culturais (gramíneas e leguminosas de inverno e verão, implantadas em fileira, usando a técnica de semeadura direta), durante 7,5 anos (partindo da condição original de campo nativo). Efetuaram-se sete testes de erosão na pesquisa, cada um deles na intensidade constante de chuva de 63,5 mm h -1 e com duração de 1,5 h, usando o simulador de chuva de braços rotativos e parcelas experimentais com dimensões de 3,5 x 11,0 m cada uma.
