New measurements of the thermal expansion of the copper used to manufacture the VNIIFTRI gas thermometer were performed and the temperature scale was corrected. The deviations of recalculated (gas) scale from the IPTS-68 scale and from the ITS-90 scale in the range 13 K to 308 K were found.
The author was privileged to complete the development of a photoelectric pyrometer at NBS that was based on preliminary studies and experimental work of C. P. JOHNSON, G. ZIEQLER and D. E. ERMINY. The photoelectric pyrometer was completed in the Radiation Thermometry Section under the direction of H. J. KOSTKOWSKJ, Section Chief. The innumerable discussions with him were of great value to the author. Most of the instrument was constructed by A. N. GRAEF and W. GROTE. Finally, the author wishes to thank E. LEWIS for his assistance in pyrometer calibrations and other work.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
