The effect of y-irradiation on the incommensurate phase of LiRbSOI crystals has been studied by measuring the specific heat C,. As a result of y-irradiation, the values of C, decreased and the transition temperature T, shifted to lower values. The values of AH and AS decreased with increasing dose rate. The results are explained on the basis of an energy change due to induced lattice defects.
The frequency ( lo2 -lo5 Hz) dependence of the dielectric properties of lithium rubidium sulphate (LRS) are reported in the vicinity of the transition temperature T, = 477 K. The a.c. conductivity .(w) shows a strong temperature dependence and weak frequency response. The dielectric constant in this region shows a strong frequency dispersion. A Cole-Cole diagram was used to determine the distribution parameter and the molecular relaxation time. The effect of doping with D Y +~, Sm+3 and V+', was also studied. It was found that doping gives rise to localized states which produce a disorder in the structure of LiRbSOa.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
