The study of the features of the structure of the lower jaw with preserved and with various degrees of loss of dentition is relevant from the point of view of dental implantology. Materials and methods. A craniometric study of angular dimensions was carried out on 120 3D models of the mandibles of men and women of the age groups Maturus and Senilis, divided into 10 subgroups. The degree of influence of tooth loss on angular dimensions was assessed. Results. In groups with complete acquired adentia, there was a statistically significant decrease in the angles of inclination and protrusion of the chin in men and women from 6° to 14° (p < 0,05), while in other groups with partial adentia, no statistically significant differences were Conclusions. The anterior segment of the lower jaw body undergoes maximum restructuring, which is reflected in the reaction of angular dimensions to the complete loss of teethobserved. The angle of the lower jaw branch and the basal angle did not respond to tooth loss.
The research purpose was to analyze images of computed tomography of the chest to study the size of the normal thymus in children and adolescents and to identify differences taking into account age and gender characteristics. Materials and methods: CT images of chest organs of 100 patients aged 3 to 18 years, performed on the basis of the Regional Clinical Tuberculosis Dispensary Public Health Institution of the Kursk Region Health Committee using the RadiAnt DICOM Viewer program, were retrospectively studied. For morphometry, we proposed a thymic-thoracic index. Results and discussion: the obtained dimensional characteristics of the thymus have differences in comparison with published data. In particular, at the age of 11-18 years, in women, the size of the gland is smaller than in the younger age group (3–10 years), while, according to the literature, the maximum size of the thymus is in the puberty period. Conclusions: the morphometric differences in the dimensional characteristics of the thymus revealed in this study indicate the need to study this organ in sexual and age aspects, with a view to their further use in the clinic.
In the article it is reflected the history of the opening of the anatomical theatre of Kursk state medical university and sections of the anatomical museum’s exposition are described in detail. The authors highlight the importance of this university structure not only on students’ education, but also in raising of the younger education. Creation of anatomical theatres was an important stage of anatomy’s formation as a basic medical science. The theatre’s architecture and exhibits are created by traditional methods and innovative technologies.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
