Abstract-This paper examines the potential of existing web-based collaboration services in supporting the interorganizational connectivity throughout the collaboration process. In doing so, the paper initially presents a brief overview and a hierarchical classification with respect to the degree and complexity of service integration of existing collaboration services which are applicable in inter-organizational settings. Successively, their shortcomings in supporting the process of interorganizational collaboration are herein determined and discussed. As a conclusion, the paper elucidates the rational and need for designing the dedicated web-based collaboration platforms for facilitating the interorganizational connectivity within a particular business sector.
The main question guiding this paper is ‘how are innovation laboratories a potential source of assistance for businesses in undertaking innovation projects?' Because of the focused and case-based nature, the extant literature on innovation laboratories falls insufficient in explaining the functional contributions of innovation laboratories towards a systematic, efficient, effective, and ultimately successful innovation management of products, processes and services of business organizations. In this esteem, the present study examines the current practices and functioning of innovation laboratories in field settings by employing a multistep research methodology. As a result, eight key functionalities and thirty associated offerings of innovation laboratories that add substantial value in maximizing the chances of success are herein determined and discussed. Moreover, the findings reveal that a particular innovation laboratory focuses on only a subset of identified functionalities and thereby influences the innovation process at a different stage and in a different manner. Accordingly, the paper debates the impacts of different functionalities towards the innovation process.
This paper initially undertakes a comparative analysis of business page architecture of different SNSs by employing a desktop-based research approach consisting of surveying existing business pages, creating sample business pages, and reviewing official documentations of included SNSs. The observations indicate that the existing SNSs exhibit vast diversity and impose platform-specific boundaries that result in the fragmentation and dispersion of business information across multiple sites. Accordingly, the next part of the paper explores the potential of SNS APIs as an opportunity for the aggregation and centralization of SNS business information and successively proposes a conceptual model of business page integration. The proposed model is validated and evaluated through a web-based application for the integrated business page search and interaction over multiple SNSs. The discussion taken herein should assist the businesses in choosing an appropriate SNS for their web representation and establishes the grounds and guidelines for next generation of integrated data applications.
