La motivación es indispensable para el aprendizaje de idiomas extranjeros (Williams & Burden, 1997/1999). Algunas estrategias son válidas para mejorar la motivación como son el uso de contenidos interesantes, el reto (Dörnyei, 2001), materiales audiovisuales y TIC especialmente para nuestro alumnado joven (Madrid, 2002). Para los jóvenes nativos digitales que ven el mundo como si fueran videojuegos (Watson, 2013, p.104), las aplicaciones educativas con un modo de competitividad son motivadoras, porque, aunque existe un lado oscuro de la hiper-competitividad, teóricamente la competitividad con una orientación de automejora es positiva (Fülöp, 2009) e incentiva la motivación necesaria para el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera. Sin embargo, algunos autores encuentran a alumnos que se desmotivan por actividades con un componente competitivo. Entonces, ¿qué significa la competitividad para nuestro alumnado? ¿Las aplicaciones educativas en el modo de competitividad motivan a los alumnos? Este trabajo examina el efecto de la competitividad sobre la motivación del aprendizaje del japonés como lengua extranjera en el ámbito universitario. Los resultados muestran una tendencia del alumnado con perfil de competitividad para desarrollo personal, antipatía a la competitividad causada por la ansiedad en un ambiente competitivo y apreciación hacia las actividades con competitividad en el nivel grupal.
En el mundo moderno globalizado en que vivimos actualmente, las personas mueven por todo el mundo, los matrimonios internacionales aumentan, y los niños con dos o más antecedentes culturales ya no son tan excepcionales como antes. Uno de los deseos frecuentes de las familias internacionalizadas es el mantenimiento de las lenguas, o, en otras palabras, las lenguas de herencia y las culturas de origen. Sin embargo, varios estudios previos muestran las dificultades a las que se enfrentan estas familias, principalmente causadas por la disminución o la desaparición de las oportunidades de utilizar la lengua de herencia. Además, la competencia lingüística de una lengua no se basa solo en el aprendizaje de la lengua en sí, sino también en la cultura y la sociedad que la rodean alrededor de la lengua de herencia. ¿Cómo podemos incrementar las oportunidades para los niños con las lenguas de herencia para estudiarlas y al mismo tiempo tener las experiencias culturales? En este trabajo, se presentará un caso de la escolarización de experiencia en un colegio de primaria japonés. Se realizará un análisis descriptivo del caso para poder aprender de él. Por último, aunque la implementación de la oportunidad educativa de este caso en otros sistemas sociales puede parecer demasiado desafiante, este ejemplo creemos que logra ofrecer un nuevo modelo para la educación hacia un mantenimiento y fortalecimiento de la lengua de herencia.
Esta investigación se enmarca en la demostración empírica del uso de técnicas de liberación emocional para reducir los niveles de ansiedad en estudiantes del idioma inglés como lengua extranjera e incidir en el mejoramiento de su competencia de producción oral. Durante los cursos técnicos de inglés, una alta población de estudiantes adquiere paulatinamente un vocabulario amplio, domina los elementos gramaticales, etc.; pero muestra inseguridad y ansiedad excesivas al hablar en el idioma meta; entonces busca soluciones desde el plano cognoscitivo, al abordar la situación con la reinscripción sucesiva en cursos especiales o con propósitos específicos. La muestra de participantes fue de 39 estudiantes de inglés como lengua extranjera, de la República Dominicana. Se propuso el uso de la técnica de liberación emocional focalizando puntos de tapping o golpeteo en los meridianos de las manos. Se utilizó un análisis de varianza (ANOVA) para aproximar el efecto de la técnica sobre los resultados de los exámenes, después de aplicar dicha técnica. Para ello, fueron considerados los valores de la media antes y después, y se formularon los parámetros con un nivel de confianza del 95% y un margen de error del 0.05%. Se comprobó que la EFT disminuye los niveles de ansiedad, que la novedad de la estimulación de los meridianos de las manos es efectiva y que el estado generado después de aplicar la técnica podría influir en un mayor dominio de la competencia oral de los estudiantes de inglés como lengua extranjera.
