Recently, Thin Foam Films are Applied to Cushion Materials on Various Instruments, such as Mobile Phones, Tablet Computers, Etc. because of Reducing Load due to Drop Impact or Collision. Testing Methods of the Thin Films must Be Established to Estimate Effect of Thin Films on Reduction of the Impact Load. in this Research, Impact Reduction Effect of the Acrylic Foam Film with a Thickness below 1000μm was Clarified by Developing a Falling Weight Testing Machine. Maximum Value of the Impact Load Decreased Dominantly and the Plateau Region was Longer as the Thickness Increased. the Duration of the Load was Longer for the Thicker Film. Therefore, the Thin Acrylic Foam Films were Found to Be Effective in the Reduction of the Large Impact Load over 20 Kn.
A method for inverse determination of the coefficients of thermal expansion of an electronic device that is composed of multiple materials, i.e. dissimilar materials, is proposed. The virtual fields method is applied for obtaining the coefficients of thermal expansion. Appropriate virtual displacement fields have been automatically obtained instead of using any arbitrary virtual displacement. This leads to an accurate and effective determination of the coefficient of thermal expansion. Full-field displacement distributions measured by digital image correlation are used as input for the inverse analysis. The validity of the proposed method has been demonstrated by measuring samples made of various materials. Furthermore, the proposed method is applied to samples simulating electronic devices with and without constraints on the boundary. Results show that the coefficients of thermal expansion of an object composed of dissimilar materials are obtained properly. The proposed method is expected to be used for determining the coefficients of thermal expansion of actual electronic devices.
Introduction. Articular cartilage is a connective tissue of joints, plays a role in load transfer, impact absorption and lubrication, and so is an important tissue to facilitate daily activities. Population of elderly people has been increasing all over the world due to progress in medical technology and the prevalence of advanced medical treatment. Thus, the number of cases of osteoarthritis (OA), a disease of articular cartilage, are rapidly increasing. OA develops when aging articular cartilage is worn down and damaged. To diagnose the disease at an early stage, a non-contact diagnostic method is required.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
