: A field experiment was conducted on summer sesame during summer season of 2012 at Agronomy Department Farm, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, to study the effect of irrigation and nitrogen levels on consumptive use, water use efficiency (WUE), available nutrients and uptake of nitrogen in summer sesame. Experimental results revealed that moisture studies, available nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium and nitrogen uptake (by grain, stalk and total N uptake) were significantly higher with irrigation scheduling at 1.0 IW/CPE (Irrigation water amount/cumulative pan evaporation) and nitrogen application at 90 kg N ha -1 , over rest of the treatments. The nitrogen content in grain, stalk and total were significantly higher with irrigation scheduling at 0.4 IW/CPE which was superior over 0.6 IW/CPE, 0.8 IW/CPE and 1.0 IW/CPE and nitrogen application at 90 kg N ha -1 recorded highest nitrogen content in grain, stalk, total and WUE followed by 60 kg N ha -1 and 30 kg N ha -1 .
: An experiment on response of different wheat genotype to different sowing time in relation to GDD accumulation was carried out in Rabi season of 2010-11 at the research field of Wheat Research Unit, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola (M.S.
Pulses are the important sources of proteins, vitamins and minerals and are popularly known as "Poor man's meat" and "rich man's vegetable", contribute significantly to the nutritional security of the country. Chickpea is the second most important grain legume in the world after dry bean. Chickpea is most important pulse crop of India in terms of area and production, widely grown for centuries and accounts for nearly 40 percent of the total pulse production in the country. Socio economic characters were calculated by using descriptive statistics mean, SD and CV, it was observed that the middle age farmers (>40 to ≤55) was 40.00 per cent, the young (>25 to ≤40) which was 12.50 per cent and old group farmers (>55 to ≤70) was 47 per cent. With respect to educational level secondary level was dominating with 39.17 per cent. About 52.50 per cent of growers belonged to medium family size. In respect of occupational level of chickpea growers, most of farmers belonged to agriculture that was 97.50 per cent followed by services 1.67 and business very negligible having 0.83 per cent.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
