A. EinleitungZu den noch offenen Fragen in der Entwicklungsgeschichte der Antheren und Sporangien gehSrt die Kammerung der Sporangien dutch Vertikal-und HorizontMsepten. Diese Tendenz zur sekundaren Unterteilung der Sporangien tritt bereits bei fossilen Formen wie Pleuromeia auf und ist hier eines der Merkmale, die ifir die Richtigkeit der yon POTONI]~ aufgestellten Reihe: Sigillaria-Pleuromeia-Nathorstiana-Isoetes spreehen. Die Kammerung der Sporangien kann, wenn man den sparlichen Angaben in der Literatur glauben darf, durch mehr oder minder funktions]ose Zwisehenwande (Trabecu]ae) oder dnreh ein besonderes Ernahrungsgewebe ffir die Sporen (Tapetum) erfo]gen. Dies sogenannte Ba]kentapetum nimmt unter den bisher bekannt gewordenen Tapetumtypen eine Sonderstellung eim Uber seine Entstehungsgesehichte ist so gut wie niehts bekannt. Die wenigen in der leizten Zeit darfiber gemachten Angaben sind verdachtig und lieBen eine'genaue entwicklungsgesehichtliehe Untersuchung wfinsehenswert erseheinen. Zudem ist das Interesse am Tapetumgewebe in neuester Zeit durch die Untersuchungen fiber Mitoseanomalien (ScaRAscia 1952, MECtt~LKE 1952 zusammenfassend GmTLE~ 1953 zusammenfassend GmTLE~ , 1954 und endomitotisehe Polyploidisierung (CARNIEL 1952(CARNIEL , 1954

Die in der vorliegenden Arbeit mitgeteilten Ergebnisse sind aus der Disser-tation des zweiten Velff~ssers entnommen. Die Chromoplasten yon Solanum capsieastrum L. ~41 schliel~lieh Chromatophoren, deren Form dutch die gebildeten Carotinkristalle bedingt ist und die darum auch in ihren Formen besonders mannigfaltig sind (Rhomben, Nadeln, Spiralen usw.). Dutch die Einfiihrung des entwieklungsgesehiehtliehen Moments in die Betrachtungsweise ergibt sieh ein neuer Gesiehtspunkt nnd zu gleieher Zeit eine wesentliehe Kon~plikation. Bei der Ontogenese" der Spermatophytenplastiden lassen sich zwei Stufen, die embryonale (Proplastiden) und die somatische unterscheiden, wie wit aus den Untersuehungen ST~UGGERS wissen. Dureh neuere Untersuehungen (STEFFEN, unverSffentlicht), die an GtULLIE~MO~D (1919) ankniipfen, sind nun Chromoplasten bekannt geworden, die Zeit ihres Lebens auf der embryonalen Stufe verharren. Diese amoeboid beweglichen Formen mit wenigen Farbstoffgranula in oft homogen gef/~rbtem oder farblosem Stroma w/~ren als vierter Chromoplastentyp den drei frfiher bekannt gewordenen anzusehliel~en. Sekund/~r kSnnen diese Proplastiden dureh Kristallbfldung in ihrer Umril~form ver/~ndert werden, so dal3 aus ihnen der dritte, klassisehe Chromoplastentyp entsteht. Die Chromoplasten der somatJsehen Stufe kSnnen entweder auf dem Wege der Ontogenese aus Proplastiden oder dureh Metamorphose aus Chloroplasten entstehen (SrEFFEN, unverSffentlicht). In lezterem Fall werden Chromoplasten des 1. und 2. Typs gebfldet. Von grundsatzlicher Bedeutnng ist die Tatsache, dab Plastiden desselben morphologisehen_ Typs auf untersehiedliehem Wege, durch Metamorphose oder ontogenetisch aus Proplastiden, entstehen kSnnen. Die Verfasser sind der Auffassung, dal~ man aus didaktisehen Griinden zungehs~ zwischen einer Ontogenese (= Entwicklungsmetamorphose nach ST~UGGE~) und einer Metamorphose unterseheiden sollte. W/~hrend bei der ontogenetisehen Entwieklung embryonale Formen in somatische i~bergehen, werden bei der Metamorphose Dauerformen in eine andere, dureh den Pigmentgehalt definierte (ScR~PE~ 1885, S. 25) Plastidengruppe fiberfi~hrt. Dabei diirfte es prinzipiell gleichgiiltig sein, ob diese Dauerformen embryonalen oder somatisehen Charakter haben. Sieht man jedoch den Strukturweehsel als Kriterium fi~r die Metamorphose an, so wird man such den ontogenetischen Strukturwechsel unter den Oberbegriff der Metamorphose rechnen mi]ssen. Es soll an dieser Stelle nieht dari~ber diskutiert werden, ob Metamorphosen reversibe] sein kSnnen (vgl. FXEr-WYssLISC, RVCH u. ]~E~GE~ 1956) und ob sieh somatische Formen wieder in embryonale verwandeln kSnnen. Dies sind wiehtige Fragen, die, solange wenig fiber die Genese und nichts i~ber die Feinstruktur der Chromoplasten bekannt ist [die unkritisehe Arbeit yon ROBEnTS U. SOUTgWICK (1948) bedarf kaum der Erwghnung], zuriickgestellt werden m~issen.
