BACKGROUND: Bubble column reactors are widely used in chemical processes and wastewater processing. The relevant properties of surface tension play important roles in the hydrodynamics and bubble coalescence and breakup. However, the underlying mechanisms are complicated and need further research. In this work, the bubble behaviors were studied in a bubble column of 0.1 m i.d. with pure liquids of different surface tension and alcohol solutions varying in concentration and alcohol type.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
