Fig. 1. Malignant ovarian Brenner tumor in an 85-year-old woman. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) shows a unilocular cystic mass with mural solid components. Dense calciˆcation was observed in part of the solid components (arrow). 71Magn Reson Med Sci, Vol. 11, No. 1, pp. 71-74, 2012 Microscopically, ovarian malignant Brenner tumor shows components of malignant transitional cell tumor intermixed with benign and borderline elements. We report a case of this tumor with components that transition from benign to malignant on diŠusion-weighted images (DWI) and in histologicˆndings. The benign component showed low signal intensity on T 2 -weighted images, whereas the malignant component showed high signal intensity on T 2 -weighted images and high signal intensity on DWI with low apparent diŠu-sion coe‹cient (ADC) value.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
