À partir des années 1990, certains écrivains mauriciens d’expression française, en prise avec la nouvelle donne de la mondialisation ‘moderne’, se mettent à élargir leurs cadres de référence et à s’exprimer sur des sujets qui transcendent le territoire et les préoccupations nationales. Ils explorent de nouveaux paradigmes qui les amènent à concevoir des paysages alternatifs aux “idéoscapes” d’Appadurai conditionnés par l’Occident qui saturent le monde d’aujourd’hui. La dynamique inédite qui se fait jour dans leurs œuvres milite pour résister au danger de la cannibalisation de la pensée et de la culture qui se profile dans la mondialisation tout en proposant des clés pour un meilleur vivre-ensemble à l’échelle de la planète.
