Applying GW model simple exponential probability density to approximate the Gaussian one is not explicit for some cases. Some practical closed form analytic solutions were derived for the contact load, contact area and contact spot number for both GW elastic contact model and CEB elastic-plastic contact model by the generalized exponential probability density fitting the Gaussian one.
Dynamic characteristics of the structure have a significant effect on the performance of the structure. Modal test is a common method to obtain structural dynamic characteristics. However, due to the mass effect of the transducer, the measured results of lightweight structure are inaccurate. This paper proposes using strain gauges to test the mode of lightweight structures, and we take the cantilever beam as an example. The paper derived strain modal expressions. We use the strain gauges, the accelerometers and the finite element simulation to test the modal of the cantilever. To compare and analyze the experimental data, it illustrates that the strain modal test methods can measure the bending mode of the beam effectively.
The cutting stability is determined by the dynamics of the tool-workpiece and the cutting process. Several cutting force models have been established by the former researches. Based on the analysis of the cutting process transfer function derived from the cutting force models, the characteristics of these models were analyzed in this work by ploting the function curves in the complex frequency plane. The curve shapes and centers were considered as the indicator to estimate the suitability of a cutting force model. An experimental method was proposed to select suitable cutting force model for a real cutting process.
The dynamic characteristics of spindle-holder taper joint greatly influencethe performance of machine tools. This paper proposed a 24-DOFs spring-damper model to deal with the dynamic model of spindle-holder taper joint. To identify the stiffness of springs and damping coefficient of damper, a parameter identification method was developed based on the inverse relationship of dynamic matrix and frequency response function matrix. Using modal test and the proposed dynamic model, the taper joint of BT40 holder was studied. At the end of this paper, a case was presented to validate the dynamic model. Because the radial, tangential and axial effects of the taper joint were all taken into considerations, the proposed model provided a higher accurate model of spindle-holder taper joint.
This paper presents a simulink block diagram which is constructed on the basis of a classical nonlinear mechanical model of machine tool chatter vibration. With varying amplitude ratio and frequency ,sinusoidal spindle speed variation (S3V) cutting process is investigated in time domain, which tests and verifies the feasibility of chatter suppression by S3V method.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
