Smothering is a form of asphyxia caused by closing the nostrils and mouth. Closure can be done by hand or a soft object (eg pillow). Smothering can cause asphyxia in the victim, where asphyxia (suffocation) is a condition characterized by impaired respiratory air exchange, resulting in reduced blood oxygen (hypoxia) accompanied by an increase in carbon dioxide (hypercapnia). This scientific work was compiled based on an autopsy report on the victim of a woman who died as a result of smothering. The results of the existing examinations were then analyzed and compared with the findings of several literatures previously searched using the keywords "asphyxia", "mechanical trauma", "smothering". A case was reported at the Department of Forensic Medicine and Medicolegal at the Sultan Sulaiman Regional General Hospital. A 21-year-old woman experienced smothering on external examination and found bruises on the surface of the inner lip. There were abrasions on the lips with the shape of dental impressions. There were bruises on the left cheek, upper jaw, lower jaw, upper and lower limbs. There were blisters on the forehead, cheeks, lips, upper and lower limbs. The surface of the lips, the tips of the fingers and the tips of the two toes are bluish in color, was found bleeding spots on both inner eyelids, bloody discharge from both nostrils and on internal examination found fine foam that is difficult to break on the lips. upper respiratory tract, on cutting the lungs found fine foam mixed with black blood, bleeding spots were found on the surface of the lung wall and the surface of the heart wall. The cause of death of the victim was suffocation due to obstruction of oxygen entering the respiratory tract to the absence of oxygen in the body and an increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) in the body due to pressure on the nose and mouth.
Forensic identification is an attempt that made with the purpose of assisting the investigator to determine a person's identity. According to the identification of the bones process, we can obtain the information relating to a person's identity such as race, gender, age, and height estimates. In this case report, we discuss the identification of the bones found by locals in a place, which allegedly belongs to human bones. This discovery was reported to the police for investigation. After that, the bones were identified by a forensic expert based on a visa application letter from the police.. These bones are distinguished on the basis of an assessment of the similarities or differences in bone shape, bone size, bone color, bone density (bone), total bone, left and right bones and assessment of parts of the bones. From the results of this observation, it can be stated that the bones are derived from human.
Sharp trauma is an injury resulting in wounds on the surface of the body by sharp objects. Sharp trauma comprosised three forms of wounds, namely incised wounds (vulnus scissum), stab wounds (vulnus punctum), and chopped (vulnus caesum). Cardiac injury is damage caused to the heart which is not congenital or degenerative in nature but caused by impact/physical collision from the outside which can reduce or change the consciousness and lead to cognitive abilities, physical function, and death. In this case report, a known male corpse is known, suffered several wounds due to injury blunt neck outside the right, the violence sharply injury on the left elbow and left chest which penetrated the heart. The cause of death of the victim was due to sharp injury on the left chest penetrating the left ventricle of the heart resulting in massive bleeding.
