KURT BERTELS studeerde klassieke saxofoon in de klas van Norbert Nozy aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. Als solist en als lid van kamermuziekensembles als het Kugoni Trio, Anemos Saxofoonkwartet en Duo Eolienne concerteert hij en werkt hij mee aan cd-, radio-, en televisieopnames in binnen-en buitenland. Hij werkt regelmatig samen met hedendaagse (Belgische) componisten en gaf al meer dan 50 compositieopdrachten. In 2012 ontving hij de UBC-medaille en in 2018 de Fuga Trofee van de Unie van de Belgische Componisten. Als onderzoeker focust Bertels op de negentiende-en vroegtwintigste-eeuwse saxofoonpraktijk. In 2020 behaalde hij zijn doctoraat in de kunsten aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel met zijn proefschrift over de Brusselse saxofoonklas (1867de Brusselse saxofoonklas ( -1904. Hij publiceerde zijn monografie Een ongehoord geluid (ASP Editions, 2020) en stelde zijn historisch geïnformeerde saxofoonpraktijk voor aan de hand van twee cd's: The Saxophone in 19th-Century Brussels en Works for Saxophone and Orchestra by Paul Gilson (Etcetera Records, 2020). Momenteel werkt hij als postdoctoraal onderzoeker aan LUCA School of Arts Campus Lemmens (Geassocieerde Faculteit Kunsten/KU Leuven).DR. JEROEN BILLIET studeerde hoorn in de klas van Luc Bergé aan de Koninklijke Conservatoria van Gent en Brussel. Hierna vervolmaakte hij zich bij Froydis Ree Wekre en specialiseerde hij zich in historische instrumenten bij o.a. Claude Maury en Anthony Halstead. Hij was actief als solo-hoorn bij les Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble, Il Fondamento en Insula Orchestra. Momenteel is hij solist bij le Concert d'Astrée, les Talens Lyriques en B'Rock Gent. Met topensembles en als solist concerteert hij met historische en moderne hoorntypes waarbij hij focust op een brede waaier aan muziekstijlen en -genres. Hij speelde tijdens de meeste Europese muziekfestivals en realiseerde meer dan zeventig cd-en dvd-opnames.In 2008 verwierf Billiet con brio de titel Laureaat van het Orpheus Instituut, en in 2021 het doctoraat in de kunsten aan de Universiteit Gent met zijn proefschrift over de Gentse hoornschool tijdens de Belle Epoque. In 2019 was hij gastheer van het 51st International Horn Symposium waarmee hij meer dan 700 hoornisten uit veertig verschillende landen naar de Gentse binnenstad lokte. In 2019 ontving hij van de International Horn Society de prestigieuze Punto-Award voor zijn internationale carrière als speler, docent en onderzoeker. Hij is actief aan de Koninklijke Conservatoria van Gent en Antwerpen en sinds 2021 hoofdvakdocent hoorn aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.14 JURGEN DE PILLECYN studeerde vanaf 1986 aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel waar hij verschillende eerste prijzen behaalde (fuga 1989).
