Zusammenfassung. An der Evangelische Fachhochschule Rheinland-Westfalen-Lippe (EFH-RWL) in Bochum wurden 288 Studenten der Fachbereiche soziale Arbeit und Heilpädagogik im Dezember 2005 zu ihrer Einstellung gegenüber der Wirksamkeit von Verhaltenstherapie und Kunsttherapie befragt. Insgesamt wurde Kunsttherapie als sinnvoller eingeschätzt, vor allem bei internalisierenden Verhaltensstörungen und bei früher Traumatisierung. Hingegen wurde Verhaltenstherapie für effektiver gehalten bei externalisierenden Verhaltensstörungen. Deutlich wurde, dass die Einstellungen geschlechtsabhängig waren: Frauen bevorzugten eher Kunsttherapie, Männer eher Verhaltenstherapie. Ebenso stellten sich als wichtige Einflussfaktoren die theoretische Beschäftigung mit Verhaltenstherapie und das Kennen einer Person im Freundes- und Bekanntenkreis die psychotherapeutische Hilfe in Form von Verhaltenstherapie oder einem humanistischen Therapieansatz in Anspruch genommen hat, als bedeutsam heraus.
