The need to provide new sources of energy intensifies research into the use of renewable sources. A good solution is to optimize fermentation methods for bio-waste, which will have a double effect - obtaining green energy and recycling bio-waste that pollutes the environment. This is one of the priorities of the European Union - the new initiative for the circular economy, where recycling of the biomass and receiving pure organic fertilizer is one of the main aims. The report presents a study to determine the working capacity of an available laboratory facility for the production of biogas from biomass through methanogenesis. Experiments carried out have identified some of the design bugs that have been removed. Multiple factors influence this process, and laboratory experiments need to be conducted to determine their impact on the process and on the amount of biogas released to obtain the best result. As a result of four series of experiments, proposals for optimization of the structure and elements of the laboratory establishment and for future research directions were formulated.
