ÚvodV 90. letech 20. století a následně v letech 2001 až 2016 provedlo archeologické odděle-ní Jihočeského muzea v Českých Budějovicích řadu archeologických výzkumů na zaniklých hřbitovech v historickém jádru města. Šlo o výzkumy na ploše dnešního Piaristického náměstí u klášterního kostela Obětování P. Marie a u kostela sv. Mikuláše (obr. 1). Mikuláše v Českých Budějovicích (Adámek a kol.
The paper provides a new hypothesis on the localization of the deserted castle in the town of Lomnice, which was a prominent settlement of the Vítkovci noble family in the 13th and 14th centuries. The seizure of the castle by the Hussites in 1420-1435 and unsuccessful attempts at its capture led Oldřich of Rožmberk to abandon the castle. The Gothic chapel founded in 1359 remained intact. However, urban and archeological findings do not point to the fact that it was a physical part of the deserted castle. We suggest searching for its core roughly 110 to 180 meters farther north on the site of a distinct cluster of houses, which can be considered to be the ground-plan trace of a medieval settlement.
The article is focused on the commemorative medal connected with foundation of the Baroque St. Ann Church affiliated to the Capuchin Monastery in České Budějovice. The data from the chronicles and official records report about the fact, that on June 1, 1615, the municipal council had ‘ein ubergeltn Schaw Groschen’ inserted in the founding stone of the church. There is an image of St. Ann on one side of the coin, and names of twelve municipal councillors and vogt on the other. The medal was produced by the goldsmith from České Budějovice – Bonifacius Riedl jr. Existence of the medal has been confirmed by the archive sources only.
