Pyridine derivatives
Pyridine derivatives R 0380Synthesis and Reactions of 4-Chloro-1,2-dihydro-6-methyl-2-oxo-3-pyridinecarbonitrile. -Chlorination of the hydroxypyridone (I) with refluxing POCl 3 produces a dichloropyridine (II), whereas a mixture of POCl3 and PCl5 results in formation of 4-chloro pyridone (III) in good yield. The latter undergoes the expected catalytic dehydrogenation and reaction with amines (V). -(AZUMA*, Y.; MORONE, M.; NAGAYAMA, K.; KAWAMATA, Y.; SATO, A.; Heterocycles 60 (2003) 6, 1461-1468; Tohoku Pharm.
