The system of (5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphinato)aluminum chloride coupled with ethyltriphenylphosphonium bromide is a novel and efficient initiator for the living and alternating copolymerization of phthalic anhydride and epoxide. The "living" polyester thus formed initiates the copolymerization of phthalic anhydride and epoxide as well as the homopolymerization of epoxide, 0-lactone, or «-lactone to give the corresponding binary and/or ternary block copolymers of a desired block sequence with well-regulated chain length.
Microwave endometrial ablation (MEA) is an effective treatment for menorrhagia and several reports have established its efficacy in treating menorrhagia. However, according to recent reports, relapse of menorrhagia can be one of the long-term clinical outcomes following MEA and often necessitates re-surgery. The authors present the case of a patient with severe abdominal pain for over a month due to a sudden enlarging myoma. Two and a half years prior, she had undergone MEA. Therefore, the patient needed an emergency hysterectomy. This is the first reported case of a rapidly enlarging myoma following MEA. Therefore, a patient who has undergone MEA must be followed up closely for at least three years.
Pyarthrosis of the knee was treated in 11 patients by arthroscopic lavage and debridement. There were 4 men and 7 women patients whose ages raged from 8 months to 80 years. Staphylococcus aureus was cultured in 5 knees. Four patients were caused by the injection of steroids. There were no recurrences. Arthroscopy can aid in establishing the diagnosis and implementing the appropriate treatment when a septic knee is suspected.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
