In order to examine the effect of oxalic acid(H2ox) on the exchange reaction of n-octyl(pheny1)-N, Ndiisobutylcarbamoylmethylphosphine oxide (o$cmpo) in U(V1) nitrato complex with odcmpo, structural and kinetic studies have been carried out for the solutions prepared by dissolving UOz (NO3)z (odcmpo), o+cmpo, and Hzox in CD3COCD3 using 31P and I3C NMR method. The number of coordinated o&mpo was determined to be 2 by the area integration of 31P NMR signals of free and coordinated o&mpo. From the area integration of 13C signals of free Hzox and coordinated oxalate(Cox), the number of Cox was estimated to be 1. Hence, the complex with composition ratio of UOi+ : oq5cmpo : Cox=l : 2 : 1 was supposed to be formed in the present solution system. The exchange rate of oqkmpo in this complex was found to show a first-order dependence on the free o4cmpo concentrations and to decrease with increasing free Hzox concentrations. From these results, it is proposed that the exchange reaction of o4cmpo proceeds through the interchange(1) mechanism and that the retardation effect of free Hzox is due to the formation of outer-sphere complex.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
