Objetivo: Discutir acerca da pobreza menstrual no processo saúde-doença das mulheres.
Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, realizada através da Biblioteca
Virtual em Saúde, com o auxílio das bases de dados LILACS, SciELO, BDENF e MEDLINE.
Dessa forma, foram utilizados os DeCS “Mulheres”, “Menstruação”, “Vulnerabilidade Social”
e “Processo Saúde-Doença”, bem como seus respectivos MeSH "Women”, “Menstruation”,
“Social Vulnerability” e “Health-Disease Process", unidos pelo booleano AND. Foram
incluídos artigos disponíveis na íntegra, de forma online, publicados nos últimos dez anos e
excluídos artigos duplicados, debates, resenhas, editoriais, resumos ou artigos publicados em
anais de eventos, indisponíveis na íntegra e que não contemplavam o tema ou objetivo proposto.
Resultados: Foram encontrados 65 estudos, na qual 7 foram elegíveis. Os estudos mostram que
a pobreza menstrual representa um importante problema de saúde pública, além de causar
desconfortos, insegurança e estresse, contribuindo assim para aumentar a falta de bem-estar. Na
ausência de produtos adequados de higiene menstrual, é amplamente reportado por diversas
pesquisas que meninas e mulheres improvisam formas para gerenciar o sangramento menstrual
com pedaços de pano, roupas velhas, jornal e até miolo de pão, onde tal situação pode ocasionar
situações problemáticas, como alergia e irritação da pele e mucosas, infecções urogenitais como
a cistite e a candidíase, e até mesmo condições que podem levar à morte. Considerações Finais:
A pobreza menstrual é um desafio vivenciado por um significativo número de pessoas e
impactos significativos no processo saúde-doença das mulheres. Destarte, trata-se de uma
problemática que pode ser amenizada, onde necessita-se ainda de mais estudos e intervenções,
