0Both scholars and practitioners have paid much attention to the impact of retaining top-performing knowledge workers on organizational effectiveness. 0 this study hypothesizes and analyzes how a bundle of high-commitment human resource practices (HCHRPs) influence affective organizational commitment, a strong predictor of employee turnover, of top performers versus ordinary employees. 0 this study suggests that hchRPs may enable organizations to retain not only ordinary employees but also top performers through their positive impact on employees' organizational commitment. 0 Using a sample of middle level managerial and R&D workers in 11 subsidiaries of a multinational conglomerate located in East Asia, this study showed that a bundle of high commitment human resource practices was positively related to the affective organizational commitment of top performers more than that of lower performers.
Intramural hematomas of the colon are rare. Intramural hematomas of the gastrointestinal tract often result from blunt trauma, although they may also occur spontaneously in patients taking anticoagulants or those with blood dyscrasia. Affected patients present with abdominal pain and lower gastrointestinal bleeding, as well as occasional signs of intestinal obstruction. The diagnosis is made using colonoscopy and abdominal CT. Resection of the involved bowel segment is accepted as the standard therapy; however, experience with conservative treatment has also been reported. We herein report the case of a 62-year-old woman taking warfarin who was diagnosed with a colonic intramural hematoma and completely recovered with conservative management.
When high‐performance work systems (HPWS) positively affect firm performance, both internal and external contingencies play potentially salient roles in its influence. Our study pays attention to organizational (unabsorbed) slack and industry instability as important boundary conditions in the relationship between HPWS and firm performance. Based on 307 Korean firms in 39 industries, our research found moderating effects of unabsorbed slack and industry instability in the relationship between HPWS and firm performance. We found that HPWS's positive effect on firm performance is strongest when a firm possesses more slack resources in an unstable industry.
