La commercialisation de fourrages en zone urbaine de Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso) : pratiques marchandes et rentabilité économique Résumé Au Burkina Faso, l'alimentation des ruminants domestiques repose sur les pâturages naturels et les résidus de culture. Or, dans les zones périphériques des grandes villes, il est de plus en plus difficile pour les troupeaux d'accéder aux pâturages naturels. Se pose alors la question de l'approvisionnement en fourrages des élevages de ruminants urbains qui n'ont pas d'accès direct aux pâturages comme cela est le cas en milieu rural. Pour satisfaire les besoins croissants en fourrages des élevages urbains et périurbains en plein essor, des marchés d'aliments fourragers se développent dans les grands centres urbains. Entre décembre 2007 et mars 2008, nous avons réalisé une étude dont l'objectif général était de caractériser le commerce de fourrages sur les marchés de la zone urbaine de Bobo-Dioulasso. Vingt et un marchés d'aliments fourragers dont 15 permanents et 6 saisonniers ont été inventoriés à travers la ville. Sur ces marchés, 68 commerçants ont été interviewés. Trente espèces fourragères ont été identifiées. Les espèces les plus vendues étaient par ordre d'importance décroissante Andropogon gayanus, Echinochloa stagnina, Pennisetum pedicellatum, Rottboellia exaltata pour les herbacées naturelles, Vigna unguiculata et Arachis hypogea pour les résidus de culture, enfin Pterocarpus erinaceus pour les fourrages ligneux. Les quantités de fourrages commercialisées étaient maximales en saison sèche, avec un pic en décembre. Le revenu net d'exploitation au cours de l'année était de 667 000 F CFA pour les préleveurs-vendeurs commercialisant des herbes naturelles et des résidus de culture de contre-saison à l'état frais. Il était de 1 269 000 F CFA pour les vendeurs simples de fanes d'arachide et de niébé à l'état sec. L'étude a révélé que la commercialisation des fourrages était une activité financièrement rentable mais qu'il était nécessaire que les acteurs de cette filière soient mieux organisés pour assurer sa durabilité.
