Abstract— Quantum efficiencies in the vacuum ultraviolet, chromaticities, and decay times of a number of highly efficient green phosphors for plasma‐display applications are compared. It is shown that the Tb3+‐activated phosphates offer improved quantum efficiencies relative to those of the standard plasma‐display phosphor, Zn2SiO4:Mn, for applications where 10‐ms decay times are acceptable. For applications requiring a very fast response, a new Eu2+‐activated strontium aluminate is found to provide an efficient green phosphor whose efficiency is about 40% of the best phosphate but with a luminescence decay time of only 5 μs.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
