Abstract. In the named entity normalization task, a system identifies a canonical unambiguous referent for names like Bush or Alabama. Resolving synonymy and ambiguity of such names can benefit end-to-end information access tasks. We evaluate two entity normalization methods based on Wikipedia in the context of both passage and document retrieval for question anwering. We find that even a simple normalization method leads to improvements of early precision, both for document and passage retrieval. Moreover, better normalization results in better retrieval performance.
The ostrigonum is a small bone present on the posterolateral aspect of the talus. It is formed from a separate ossification center which fails to unite with the talus itself. Incidence is about 3-15%. The diagnosis can be difficult to make as symptoms and physical exam findings mimic those that occur with problems related to an accessory soleus muscle, flexor hallucislongus, posteriortibialis, or peroneal tendons, arthritis involving the posterior tibiotalar or subtalar joints, or ostrigonum syndrome. Misdiagnosis of such injuries may result in inadequate management including immediate weight bearing and prolonged symptoms
SPBE (Electronic Based Government System) is a legal protection as new breakthroughs in the reform of Indonesian government bureaucracy. The issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) 95/2018 concerning SPBE is expected to be a reference for the transformation from e-Government into i-Government (integrated Government). In the meantime, the government through the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) is drafting an academic paper on the SPBE Bill. Of the 10 elements contained in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) 95/2018, the second element namely SPBE architecture is a concept known in the world of Information Systems as Enterprise Architecture.Enterprise architecture is a conceptual framework that describes how an enterprise is constructed by defining its primary components and the relationships among these components. In SPBE, the main component is defined as domain, consisting of 6 parts, namely: business process architecture domain, data and information, infrastructure, SPBE applications, security, and SPBE services. Unfortunately, the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) 95/2018 has not regulated the concept of Digital Enterprise Architecture, since between Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Digital Enterprise Architecture (DEA) are two things that are significantly different. If EA merely focuses on structuring the company based on the main frame of reference, then DEA focuses on utilizing digital repositories to create living documents as according to the EA framework so that they are easily accessed, modified and managed at any time following the company's development. This study created a DEA model for SPBE in Indonesia. The model created is adapted to the SPBE architecture by carrying out the concept of a digital repository. With digital repositories, time efficiency, paper savings and change management will be easier to achieve. The model created in this study is expected to be utilized to make SPBE much more efficient and green-minded.
This article looks at the intellectual and linguistic dilemmas of an international doctoral group and juxtaposes these with some of the existential challenges the group faces. The intention is to offer a kind of 'dialectical tacking' between doctoral thinking and doctoral experiences more broadly. The overall aim of the piece is to think in front of each other while developing a sense of 'equality' in relation to group contributions. Each of the excursions into research in this article enacts different approaches to research thinking-comparative, inductive, deductive, dialectical and deconstructive. In this piece, the voices of the tutors (Stronach and Frankham) are mostly dominant, but further publication will shift that balance significantly towards the voice of the doctoral student. We begin with an empirical detail that highlights the nature of some of the problems of cultural and linguistic translation.
Although there has been several reports of various different schemes of self-tuning PI (STPI) and PID (STPID) controller in recent years, the application of this type of controller is still limited. The capabilities of this type of controllers to control real physical processes need to be proven in more detail. In this paper, an application of a STPI controller proposed by Cameron etal (1983) to a microcomputer controlled water bath system is described. The water bath is an example of an important component in many industrial chemical processes. Experiments are conducted to test the STPI controller and to compare its performance with two other controllers, namely a self-tuning controller (STC) of Gawthrop (1975,1979) and a conventional PI controller. The reliability of the STPI controller is tested by artificially adding load disturbances, simulating a change in the process dynamics, and artificially adding a variable delay time element in the control loop of the process. The results prove that the performance of the STPI controller is as good as a selfhning controller plus an added advantage of having a P1 like structure. Moreover, the STPI coiltroller performs better than the conventional PI controller especially when there are changes in the process dynamics. Keywords: self-tuning PI(P1D) controller, temperature control process, parameter estimation, and tuning parameters. IntroductionThe domination of PI and PID controllers in the process control industries is the main driving force towards the escalation in the theories and practice of STPI and STPID controllers. Although self-tuning controller is more flexible and provide a more systematic way of dealing with uncertainties, non-linearities and time varying plant parameters, its applications in the process control industries is still not very encouraging. Self-tuning controllers can be viewed as performance oriented in that, the closed loop performance are specified by the user and the algorithm sets out to attain this performance eventhough the plant parameters or the drifts are unknown. Indeed, this implies that the desired performance of the plant can only be achieved given the saturation characteristics of the control actuator and the skill of the plant engineers is crucially impoirant. A progressive step is
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
