This work is concerned with an anti-plane inverse problem about identification of a buried void in an elastic layer of constant thickness. It is assumed that a certain load is applied to the upper boundary surface, to generate wave fields inside the layer. Then, a numerical algorithm is proposed to restore the position and size of the buried void. The input data is given by the amplitude of oscillations known over a certain finite-length interval on the upper face of the layer. Some numerical examples demonstrate the stability of the proposed algorithm.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
