This article was described the development of Interactive Hologram Augmented Reality Card (IHARC) and preliminary study of users' initial readiness and acceptance to implement IHARC at Wonosari tea plantation agro-tourism. IHARC has a very high potential to apply in a variety of field such as medical, engineering, construction, education, tourism and etc. This article will describe the development of IHARC and preliminary study of users' initial readiness and acceptance to implement IHARC at Wonosari tea plantation agro-tourism. The purpose to design and develop IHARC for Wonosari tea plantation is to increase the attractiveness of tourists visiting to that place. This study also intended to determine the level of acceptance and readiness in preliminary stage among target users to use IHARC. The development of IHARC design specifications in Wonosari tea plantation based on qualitative research findings. Interview methods, analysis documents and observations were used to develop IHARC design specification. Once the IHARC design specification is developed, then the phase of development process is carried out. Through the development of the IHARC, it is hoped that it will help Wonosari tea plantation agro-tourism, Malang, Indonesia to promote and increase the number of tourists to visit here.
Souvenirs are an essential artifact in tourism because tourists want to keep a memory of the places they visit. Despite the enormous variation in souvenirs, there are no decent souvenirs for agro-tourism in Indonesia. Agro-tourism allows tourists to experience the natural beauty of landscapes and to be exposed to farming products, making the agricultural products the souvenirs themselves. Some Indonesian agro-tourism provides undifferentiated souvenirs like keychains or T-shirts that exhibit the place’s logo, which we perceive as an opportunity to develop a novel design of souvenir. Our previous study about augmented reality products in agro-tourism delivered good outcomes but needs further research. This article explored the potential of developing agro-tourism souvenirs with technology to engage tourist enthusiasm with augmented reality. The researchers conducted literature studies, interviews and product testings to answer the main research question: “What is the tourist attitude towards augmented reality souvenirs in Indonesian agro-tourism?”. The findings during the prototype trial indicated that augmented reality souvenirs could escalate tourism experiences. However, we found there was a problem in human-computer interaction: some of the target audience’s tools cannot support the technology. Although the immersive sensation from augmented reality souvenirs potentially enhances the tourist experience, future studies about the effectiveness of its more extended implementation are necessary. Kelantan state, regarded as the cradle of Malay culture is not only known for her unique cultural heritage, but also a land blessed with both metallic and non-metallic minerals. These include enormous clay deposits discovered in six (6) districts with estimated total reserve of 29.4 million tonnes of ball clay and 51.5 million tonnes of mottled clay. Hence, this paper investigates the physiochemical and mineralogical properties of the clay deposits. This was achieved by reviewing existing literatures and reports at the Mineral and Geoscience Department, Malaysia. The properties investigated were green and fired clay colour, plasticity, green strength, dry and fired shrinkage, porosity, chemical and mineral composition. The properties of the clay revealed that they have geographical IP potential; particularly, the predominantly off-white fired colour of the ball clay at temperature range of 900-11000C can secure an identity for Kelantan ceramics in the local, national or international market. Based on these properties, the ball clay is applicable for table ware, earthenware and local tile production while the mottled clay has a potential use for vitrified clay pipe, local tile and brick production.
Houses and small farms in remote area typically use batteries or generator for their lighting and electricity needs. However, with the use of generators, the availability and cost of fuel to power the generators are of the main concerns. Other type of renewable energy such as wind and solar, which is only available for several hours per day; are also very costly. Hence, a cheaper and reliable option is needed. Although large hydropower plant provides electricity for industry and domestic use, small scale hydropower plant does contributes toward providing this basic need to remote, off-grid areas and backup power particularly in developing countries. Thus, this paper focuses on small scale hydropower, self-excited application which does not require river-run-off or dam for water storage. It is cost effective, environmentally friendly and the turbine system can be manufactured locally. Several existing research in Malaysia are highlighted and small scale hydropower is reviewed based on their application on rural environment.
