Internet traffic volumes continue to increase rapidly with the spread of the broadband access and the increase in internet backbone capacities. Moreover, the applications provided over the internet have become more diverse. Adequately supporting the QoS requirements for these diverse applications requires measuring traffic volumes by application type(file transfer, broadcast and so on). Therefore, methods for classifying applications become extremely important for multi QoS environment. In some application traffic classification methods, the applications are analyzed on the basis of statistics for the traffic characteristics, such as the packet inter arrival time and packet size.In this paper, we propose application traffic classification method applying LPC cepstrum. The proposed method enables to treat the traffic data as a time series signal and to separate spectral envelope information and spectral fine structure information from spectrum. We show that it is effective to use the LPC cepstrum to classify internet traffic by comparing LPC cepstrum with flow and raw data in this paper.
Objectives This study investigated factors associated with tooth loss in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods A total of 429 patients with RA were enrolled in the study. We examined tooth loss and clinical data. Patients were classified into two groups: a group with tooth loss (tooth loss-positive group), and a group without tooth loss (tooth loss-negative group). Patients were included in the tooth loss-positive group if they had fewer remaining teeth than the number defined by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Japan to be the normal number teeth for that age and sex. Factors associated with tooth loss were analyzed by comparing the tooth loss-positive and loss-negative groups.
ResultsThe frequency of patients with tooth loss was 39.6%. The factors associated with tooth loss were smoking [odds ratio (OR) 1.638; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.165-2.302], serum levels of albumin (OR 0.325; 95% CI 0.149-0.707) and 25-hydroxy vitamin D (OR 0.947; 95% CI 0.915-0.980), and total hip T score (OR 0.713; 95% CI 0.535-0.950). Conclusion This study revealed that tooth loss is associated with smoking, serum levels of albumin and 25hydroxy vitamin D, and the total hip T score in patients with RA. Our findings may help prevent tooth loss in patients with RA.
Motivated by performance evaluation of a computer communication system, we consider a renewal input, general service time, single-server, and infinite-capacity queuing system with generally distributed time-out threshold. We obtain two moment approximate formulas for the mean system performance measures (including the mean number of customers in the system and the mean response time) by using the diffusion process with the reflecting barrier. Our teletraffic model includes the standard G/G/1 system without timeout scheme as a special case. From performance comparisons between our diffusion approximation and simulation results, we also provide refining form ulas. The G/G/1 queue; time-out scheme; tele-traffic analysis; performance evaluation; diffusion approximation I.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
