Purpose–Colleges and Universities have been established to provide educational services to the people. Like any other organization, the school has processes and procedures similar to business or industry that involve admissions, processing of data, and generation of reports. Those processes are made possible through a centralized system in storing, processing, and retrieval of data and information, the majority of the schools in the country are already adopting computer-based systems to address their needs especially on their student and school-related transactions. The absence of a computer system and the complexity of the transactions of the college which makes the personnel be loaded with paper works in storingand keeping student records and information is the motivating factor why the School Management Information System has been designed and developed for a community college in the northern part of Mindanao.Method-This paper discusses the Major Functionalities and Modules of the systemthroughits implementation methodology which is the AgileModel and its impact on the delivery of services and procedures in the overall operation of the college. Results–The project has been evaluated based on ISO 25010,a quality model used for product/software quality evaluation systems. Based on the results of the evaluation, SMIS has been Functional, Usable, and Reliable with an average for every criterion above 4.04indicating very good performance based on a Likert scale descriptive interpretation. Conclusion–Based on the preceding findings of the study, the respondents agreed that the developed e-school system was functional and lifted the transaction process of the school. The faculty and staff have benefited from making use of the system. The overall quality and performance of the system was verygood in terms of functionality, usability, andreliability.Recommendations–It is recommended that future development such as the smartphone and tablet-based attendance monitoring should be integrated, a kiosk for grades and schedule viewing should also be placed inside the campus that is connected to the database server. Online student information systems should also be developed for the benefit of the students and parents, in easily monitoring school-related activities and requirements.Research Implications–The study enabled the centralization of school and student data in storing, processing and retrieval. The System has been implemented in the college and has been updated now and then for continuous quality improvement.
One of the most fundamental needs of humanity is water. It is essential to provide clean water for human consumption. This research aims to design and build a functional water monitoring system to guarantee a safe water supply. Using the AQUAMAG device and web-based platform, the water quality is assessed in real time, and the current water status is monitored. There is a webpage for viewing all the recorded data from the database for analytical monitoring purposes. At the same time, the device sends a message notification to the user for the water condition update. The evaluation-based ISO 25010 standards showed end-users remarkably accepted the device attributed to the accurate turbidity and pH sensors. This water monitoring mechanism can help the user visualize if the water source is polluted or contaminated through a water quality test. With its efficient application and practicality, it has excellent potential for the community. Hence, a portable and user-friendly device that can be used within households and establishments as an alternative way of checking water quality before using it can be developed. Relatively, the study can raise awareness on water quality in the community through the developed device, which can also avoid illnesses caused by contaminated water.
Purpose–The study aims to develop an application that will serve as an alternative learning tool for learning Asian Studies. The delivery of lessons into a virtual reality game dependson the pace of students. The developed application comprises several more features that enable users to get valuable information from an immersive environment.Method–The researchers used Rapid Application Development (RAD) in developing the application. It follows phases such as requirement planning, user design, construction, and cutover. Two sets of questionnaires were developed, one for the teachers and another for the students. Then, testing and evaluation were conducted through purposive sampling to select the respondents. Results–The application was overall rated as 3.56 which is verbally interpreted as very good. The result was based on the system evaluation using ISO 9126 in terms of functionality, usability, content, reliability, and performance. 476Conclusion–The developed application meets the objectives to provide an alternative learning tool for learning Asian Studies. The application is well commended and accepted by the end-users to provide an interactive and immersive environment for students to learn at their own pace. Recommendations–Further enhancement of the audio, gameplay, and graphics of the tool. Schools should take into consideration the adoption of the Asian Studies Virtual Reality as a good alternative tool for their teachers and students to teach and learn Asian Studies. The use of more 3D objects relevant to the given information to enhance game experience may be considered.A databank for the quiz questions that will be loaded into the game should also be considered.Research Implications–The integration of modern technology in education has been a vital part of the learning process, especially when technological resources are available. Development and adaptation of this application will promote an alternative way of independent learning among students and will give them a better understanding of Asian Studies at their own pace.
