The rapid development of construction industry is fostering the construction service companies to hire sufficient and competent professional cost estimators who are mainly graduated from universities. This study aims to examine the students’ interest in contraction cost estimating and the effect of using real-object media and PowerPoints media in learning achievement of cost estimation. The method of this study was quasi-experimental conducted with a 2 x 2 factorial design using 40 samples. The instruments consisted of learning outcomes assesment and students’ interest testing with reliability coefficients of 0.92 and 0.81 respectively. The hypothesis was tested through variance analysis and Tukey test techniques. The research findings showed that there are interactions between the implementation of real object media and the students’ interests. For the students with high level of interest to learn, the implemetation of real object media did not give significant differences compared to the use of PowerPoints media. In the other hand, for the students with relatively low level of interest to learn, the real-object media is more effective than PowerPoints media. This finding is very useful for lecturers to improve learning achievement in cost estimation learning thus the graduates have the competence and expertise in the construction service industry.
One effect caused by a calamity is the psychological impact on the community. In December 2019 covid-19 viral infected many countries including Indonesia which later changed his status to make cause serious problems because there is no vaccine to prevent transmission of the virus. This condition requires every society to comply with government regulations as quarantine, PSBB, WFH, social distancing. The psychological impact that is often found in society is afraid of panic and other stress. Psychology is closely related to conducting this study will discuss architectural behavior that plays a role in the relationship between people and space. This research as if would explain what occurred in behavior and how your family made the architect can solve this problem by emphasizing psychiatric problems through the application for building design, occupancy of a room. The theory of architecture as a guide in determining objects for the attention that the occupants need through analysis of the type of activity and used before and during the pandemic. This approach asserts the need to understand the behavior and needs of the people living in the house in use. This research activity was carried out with space objects selected based on the similarity of form and design of the average home in Medan City. In activities, the research was conducted with a sample housing path in our name in “Villa Nusa Sempurna” with different types of houses, and various characters users and primary focus will also be on the type of house that is most in demand are in residential. Is a type of type 70 most interested in shape and arrangement with the most commonly found in residential of the town. The result of this research is designed products have been analyzed based on the assessment of behavior so that it can become a new alternative designing safe and comfortable housing for the face of a pandemic.
This paper aims to analyze the level of need for the development of E-Book-based energy-saving wallcovering research materials to increase students' knowledge and motivation for innovation. Up to the present, the lecture materials related to energy-efficient buildings are only based on concepts from theory without any development of innovative research results. Ideally, lecturers provide lectures based on the results of their research. By studying the research results, lecturers will know how to motivate students to think innovatively. However, during pandemics learning activities must be done online. The students are still required to be able to develop their knowledge and be innovative. Online learning provides opportunities for lecturers to guide the learning activities by applying technology, which can be given through E-Books. Therefore, increasing students' knowledge and motivation for innovation can be obtained by doing needs analysis on the development of learning materials for energy-saving walls covering research based on E-Books. This research data was obtained through a questionnaire to several lecturers at the Civil Engineering Study Program in Universitas Negeri Medan. This study uses Root Cause Analysis in obtaining the needs analysis. This analysis examines layer by layer causes to get the main cause of the importance of learning development needs based on E-Book-based energy-saving wall covering research materials.The identification results found several main causes of the importance of developing E-book-based energy-saving wall covering research materials.
Target kegiatan pengabdian adalah sebuah sekolah yang terletak di pinggiran Kota Medan tepatnya Perumnas Simalingkar Medan Tuntungan. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mewujudkan visual yang baik dan menarik adalah memperbaiki fisik bangunan. Upaya tersebut berupa aplikasi seni mural, selain dianggap memperindah tampilan fisik bangunan, seni mural ini juga dapat memperkuat karakter sebuah kawasan. Metode yang dilakukan adalah dengan metode sosialisasi, membuat konsep desain, kemudian praktik dengan bimbingan pembuatan mural, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Mural yang dihasilkan dalam bentuk mural edukasi dengan beberapa ragam pengetahuan. Hasil kegiatan ini berupa adanya peningkatan ekonomi, peningkatan ilmu seni bagi mitra terpilih sekaligus memperbaiki visual bangunan sekolah. Evaluasi kegiatan ini menghasilkan umpan balik yang positif, potensi keberlanjutan kegiatan pembuatan mural ini bisa dilakukan pada lokasi yang lain dengan konsep atau tema yang berbeda sehingga semakin banyak masyarakat yang mendapat edukasi dan keterampilan dalam memperbaiki visual bangunan. Pengabdian masyarakat berupa pembuatan mural disekolah ini terlaksana dengan baik sesuai dengan yang telah direncanakan, dari hasil sosialisasi sampai dengan proses pengerjaan para peserta sangat antusias dan sangat senang bisa mempelajari cara-cara dalam pembuatan mural. Peserta mendapat keterampilan baru yang belum pernah diperoleh sebelumnya sebagai bekal dalam membuat suatu inovasi juga memberi warna baru pada tampilan visual sekolah dalam meningkatkan proses belajar mengajar.
