A Síndrome de Guillain-Barré (SGB), também conhecida como polirradiculoneurite aguda, é a maior causa de paralisia flácida generalizada no mundo, apresenta um intervalo de cerca de 4 semanas entre a infecção viral prévia e o nível máximo de agravação da doença, caracteriza por manifestações reversíveis, porém, em 20% dos casos pode deixar sequelas no paciente como alterações de tônus muscular e perda de força, que trazem dificuldades para a realização de atividades da vida diária, em situações normais, a maioria dos casos ocorre de maneira esporádica e parece não apresentar sazonalidade, é uma doença de caráter autoimune que acomete primordialmente a mielina da porção proximal dos nervos periféricos de forma aguda/subaguda, na maioria dos casos os pacientes costumam apresentar sinais e sintomas como a visão turva, taquicardia, disfagia, tonturas, incontinência urinaria e danos na parte respiratória e apresentando também bastante fraqueza mais nos músculos proximais e os membros inferiores são geralmente os mais afetados que os membros superiores. A fisioterapia tem como principal objetivo em todas as fases da doença prevenir as comorbidades, melhorar o equilíbrio, recuperar a força muscular e a melhora do condicionamento físico, a conduta fisioterapêutica será estabelecida de acordo com a necessidade de cada paciente e a fase em qual se encontra, buscando sempre diminuir seus déficits para o retorno das AVD´s e melhora da qualidade de vida.
