RESUMOObjetivo: Descrever um relato de experiência sobre a assistência de enfermagem prestada a um paciente com raiva humana internado em um hospital referência em infectologia. Relato de experiência: Deu entrada, conduzido por familiares, menor de 16 anos de idade, gênero masculino, apresentando parestesia ascendentes de membros inferiores-MMII, cefaleia, dor no quadril aos movimentos. Ele e mais dois irmãos tem história de mordida de morcego há cerca de quinze dias. Já hospitalizado, após 72 horas o mesmo evoluiu com quadro febril, alteração de consciência, confusão mental, crise convulsiva tônicoclônica generalizada e então, foi iniciado protocolo de Milwaukee para raiva humana. Com o intuito de descrever os relatos da equipe de enfermagem quanto a assistência prestada a este paciente, que hora é o único paciente vivo em convalescência por raiva humana no Brasil, foi aplicado um teste escrito a seis profissionais enfermeiras que atuaram na assistência a esse paciente na UTI, destas 83,3% informaram que sua assistência foi pautada em protocolos nacionais e 83,3% informaram que foi baseada apenas nas alterações apresentadas pelo paciente. Quando indagadas se tinham domínio das técnicas assistenciais para tratar um paciente portador de uma infecção rara, como é o caso da raiva humana, 16,6% informaram que não. Considerações finais: Portanto, foi possível descobrir que, mesmo não tendo muita compressão sobre a patologia, a equipe de enfermagem soube como conduzir as ações e prestar uma assistência de qualidade Palavras-chave: doença rara, doenças infecciosa, cuidados de enfermagem, paciente critico ABSTRACT Objective: To describe an experience report on nursing care provided to a patient with human rabies admitted to a reference hospital in infectology. Experience report: The patient was admitted, conducted by family members, under 16 years of age, male, with ascending lower limb paresthesia, headache, hip pain on movement. He and two other brothers have a history of bat bite for about a fortnight.
