synopsisThe derivatives of poly-3,3-bis(chloromethyl)oxacyclobutane were prepared by the reaction of the chloromethyl group with organic alkali salts at 100-13OoC. in dimethyl sulfoxide. Various reagents were used, including sodium cyanide, sodium acetate, sodium t.hiophenolste, sodium phenolate, sodium methoxide, sodium diethyl malonate, and potsssium phthalimide. For all the substitution reactions, the infrared spectra and elementary analyses substantiated the structures of the designated products. The intrinsic viscosities of the derivatives decreased with increasing the reaction time. I t was found that the ions of these salts are strong nucleophiles in dimethyl sulfoxide.
With a view of obtaining the relation between the volcanic activity and the crustatf movement, precise levelling along the Ash sightseeing bus route has been carried out 7 times since 1937 to 1953. The Reative vertical displacements of the bench marks i the interval between twa successive lvellings are shown in Table 1 and Fig. 2. From these data the modes of the crustal movement are discussed, and are correlated to the mean values of the amplitudes of the 1st volcanic micro-tremors which ale. recorded by W ieehert's seismograph in Aso Volcanotogica Laboratory. Fig. 1. Map of levelling route and position of bench mark.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
