Da perspectiva histórica, todos os elementos que envolvem uma doença, desde sua nomeação até a carga de significado que lhe é atribuída, resultam de "negociações" elaboradas por múltiplos atores sociais. No caso da lepra, a descoberta das sulfonas, em 1941, contribuiu de forma significativa para a transformação do entendimento dessa enfermidade, gerando um questionamento acerca das ações utilizadas para o seu controle/combate, sobretudo o isolamento compulsório dos doentes. Com base nesses pressupostos, este artigo analisa o debate que se constituiu acerca do processo de substituição das antigas práticas profiláticas para o controle da lepra, em um importante periódico de circulação nacional, Arquivos Mineiros de Leprologia, na década de 1950.
O objetivo do presente texto consiste em analisar matérias e anúncios que tratam do combate à lepra, publicadas nos jornais, Estado de Minas e Minas Gerais, no início dos anos de 1930, marco inicial da estruturação da política de isolamento compulsório dos doentes no estado. Para além de mapear o aparecimento de notícias relacionadas ao tema, pretendemos compreender a dimensão do uso dos jornais como veículos difusores e legitimadores de políticas públicas de saúde. A questão da legitimidade pública, nesse caso, torna-se importante, pelo fato de a principal prática de controle da lepra consistir no isolamento obrigatório dos portadores da doença.
O presente artigo discute os resultados de uma pesquisa que analisou as condições de acessibilidade e o uso de tecnologia assistiva no Sistema de Bibliotecas (SIBI) do Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG). Trata-se de um estudo de caso, que investigou a aplicação das políticas públicas de inclusão no SIBI do CEFET-MG. Para realização do estudo, foram utilizadas três técnicas de coleta de dados: a observação realizada em duas bibliotecas do SIBI; questionários enviados através do Google docs para os bibliotecários chefes do SIBI; e entrevistas semi-estruturadas para três alunos(as) com necessidades educacionais especiais. Os resultados mostram avanços como: o recebimento de alunos(as) com necessidades educacionais especiais na instituição de ensino analisada; a construção ou adaptação de prédios acessíveis; o fornecimento de tecnologias para auxiliar os estudantes com alguma necessidade educacional especial nos estudos; e o acolhimento pela maior parte da comunidade acadêmica. No entanto, constatou-se também a necessidade de articulação intersetorial, treinamento de servidores e melhora nas condições de acessibilidade e tecnologia assistiva.
O presente artigo tem como objetivo acompanhar os discursos sobre a lepra na imprensa da cidade de Diamantina, Minas Gerais, especificamente no jornal católico Pão de Santo Antônio, entre os anos de 1930 e 1934, período em que estava sendo estruturada a política de isolamento compulsório dos acometidos pela doença. A intenção é mostrar que, antes de ser elevada à condição de “flagelo nacional” e se tornar alvo de políticas públicas de saúde, a assistência aos doentes ficou a cargo de instituições privadas confessionais ou laicas, destacadamente das Sociedades de Assistência aos Lázaros e Defesa contra a Lepra. Criada incialmente em São Paulo, a instituição se expandiu por vários estados do Brasil, inclusive para Minas Gerais, em 1931. Argumentamos que a imprensa foi um veículo importante no processo de legitimar as políticas de controle da lepra, de modo especial o isolamento compulsório, já que por ela circularam representações que atribuíram um significado à doença repleto de conotações pejorativas, contribuindo para sua difusão e incorporação ao imaginário social.
O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar a relação entre propaganda e saúde nos “anos de chumbo”, especificamente no ano de 1972 quando a ditadura encenava o ápice da repressão política no Brasil, sob o governo do general Emílio Garrastazu Médici. O foco da análise serão os três primeiros filmetes da campanha “Povo desenvolvido é povo limpo”, criada pelo publicitário Ruy Perotti Barbosa da Linxfilm e lançada pela Assessoria Especial de Relações Públicas (AERP). A partir desses filmes será possível fazer reflexões sobre as relações entre ditadura e o campo da saúde, sobretudo, os aspectos de continuidade de certa concepção individualizante, que considera o sujeito como responsável pelo seu próprio bem estar. Com tal concepção, a AERP empreendeu uma campanha de higiene que, de modo mais amplo, funcionoucomo propaganda de divulgação do projeto modernizador da ditadura civil-militar, pois, suprimiu a palavra saúde e atrelou os princípios de higiene à noção de desenvolvimento.
