ABSTRACT
The objective was to identify how the nursing team should be managed, and its effects on peripheral venous catheterization. This is an integrative review study, which used the descriptors in health sciences, standards of practice in nursing, Adverse effects and peripheral catheterization. Through the analysis of the results, it was found that the management and effects of peripheral puncture have consequences for both the patient and the hospital. This proper management of nursing professionals minimizes the risk of adverse effects in intravenous therapy, both the effects related to the clinical status of the patient, as the effects related to the costs of the institutions. Nursing professionals need to seek information on the management and effects of peripheral venous catheterization for the development of health care.
