RESUMO:Esse texto visa a articular nosso tema de pesquisa e extensão sobre masculinidades subalternas no Rio de Janeiro ao tema do aumento da vulnerabilidade da saúde masculina durante a epidemia de Covid-19. Tentaremos resumir brevemente nossa pesquisa atentando para os elementos da mesma que confirmam o aumento da vulnerabilidade social das masculinidades subalternizadas durante a pandemia de Covid-19 no Brasil. A articulação das seguintes temáticas nos pareceu fundamental: 1) o aumento do subemprego e do desemprego dentre essas masculinidades como consequência do incremento das políticas de austeridade impetradas pelo governo federal; 2) o aumento da vulnerabilidade em termos de saúde física e mental devido ao paulatino desmantelamento do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) e dos serviços de saúde pública em geral; 3) a manutenção de uma política de segurança calcada na extrema violência policial (em nome da "guerra às drogas" e não aliciamento de menores) que atinge fundamentalmente os territórios habitados pelo lumpemproletariado, sobretudo jovens negros do sexo masculino entre 12 e 18 anos. Salientamos que o objetivo do resumo não é tanto explorar cada um desses temas, mas mostrar que é no seu entrecruzamento que a discussão sobre o agravo da vulnerabilidade masculina encontra seu melhor enfoque.
