Purpose On a global scale, the Muslim-friendly hospitality business has intensified hotel competition. Given the paucity of research on the important service quality characteristics of Muslim-friendly hotels, this study aims to identify the major themes encountered by tourists at Muslim-friendly hotels. Design/methodology/approach The research used content analyzes (qualitative) to examine 1,250 reviews using Leximancer software. Data were gathered from the online travel website booking.com. The top 10 Islamic hotels according to Crescent ranking were taken into a data set. Findings Qualitative (narratives) analysis showcased nine key themes, namely, “hotel,” “staff,” “food,” “room,” “location,” “pool,” “facilities,” “cleanliness” and “Wi-Fi.” Furthermore, the findings of this study contribute to filling research voids in the literature by distinguishing themes linked with halal hotel “satisfaction” from those associated with “dissatisfaction.” Originality/value The findings of this research offer valuable visions into halal-hotel travelers’ overall experiences based on user-generated content and facilitate the identification of the dominant themes linked with a different value for money ratings.
The world has been affected by an outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Health care workers are among those most at risk of contracting the virus. In the fight against the coronavirus, nurses play a critical role. Still, most social media platforms demonstrate that nurses fear that their health is not being prioritized. The purpose of this study is to investigate nurses’ experiences through analyzing the main themes shared on Instagram by nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. In contrast with highly structured research, the current paper highlights nurses’ natural language use in describing their experiences during the first months of the outbreak in their workplace. Instagram captions were utilized as a data source. Leximancer was utilized for the content analysis of nurses’ narratives towards their coronavirus experience. We sought to accomplish three research objectives: the first was to identify the main themes in the descriptions of nurses’ experiences shared via their social media, specifically Instagram; then, to determine the relationships among concepts, and finally, to give useful implications based on the findings. The current study uses a qualitative (i.e., narratives) approach to analyze the main components of the nurses’ experiences during the pandemic. The Leximancer software analysis revealed nine major textual themes and the relationships among these themes. In order of the relative importance, the themes were “patients”, “coronavirus”, “exhaustion”, “family”, “hospital”, “personal protective equipment” (PPE), “shift”, “fear”, and “uncertainty”. The results offer practical implications based on the social media information regarding nurses’ overall experiences.
PurposeThe study sought to examine the impacts of COVID-19 on tourism from the stakeholder perspective in the case of Famagusta town in Northern Cyprus.Design/methodology/approachVia a qualitative research approach, data are collected through face-to-face interviews from direct and indirect tourism stakeholders operating in Famagusta. A judgmental sampling strategy was employed to collect data from tourism stakeholders on the impacts of COVID-19 on tourism. Descriptive data analysis is engaged to report the results.FindingsResults of the study showed that the novel coronavirus has hampered the tourism sector in Famagusta, Northern Cyprus. Indeed, as the globe suffered its effects in terms of economic gains, business and business closure. It has been the same with Famagusta, while a few private sectors positively gained (Internet and Technology), all other tourism-reliant sectors such as hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and the transport sector massively suffered as a result of the global lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.Originality/valueGiven the ever-changing state of knowledge and scarcity of literature, the current study seeks to summarize what has been learned from previous crises and back it up with qualitative research including senior industry stakeholders.
Different factors are responsible for the silent epidemic of diabetes mellitus in developing and developed countries. This study aimed to determine the role of demographic factors, lipid profile, family history (the estimation of genetic association) and anthropometric factors on diabetes onset. Methods: Data from the enrolment phase of the Tabari Cohort study was applied for this study and included 10,255 participants aged between 35-70 years. Anthropometric variables were measured by trained staff using standard tools. Blood specimens were collected for lipid profile and blood glucose measurements. Data analyses were performed using SPSS version 24, with univariate and multivariate logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of diabetes mellitus was estimated to be 17.2% in the cohort population, 15.6% in men, and 18.3% in women. The adjusted odds ratios (95% confidence intervals) for age groups 40-49, 50-59 and over 60 were 2.58 (2.20-3.69), 5.80 (4.51-7.48) and 8.72 (6.67-11.39), respectively. In addition, the odds ratios (95% confidence intervals) for 2 (or more), and 1 affected family member were 4.12 (3.55-4.90) and 2.34 (2.07-2.65), respectively. Triglyceride concentrations more than 500, and abnormal high-density lipoprotein levels increased the odds of diabetes mellitus by 3.29-and 1.18-fold, respectively. Conclusion: The current study showed that old age and a family history were strong predictors for diabetes mellitus.
Objective: This study aimed to investigating of the epidemiological aspects of infertility and related risk factors in infertile women. Materials and methods:This cross-sectional study, carried out on 330 infertile women referred to two infertility treatment center of Imam Khomeini Hospital and Mother center in Sari, Iran, from April 2015 to March 2017.Results: 54.5% of these women were in the age of 30-39 years, infertility duration in 55.2% was 1-5 years, Body mass index (BMI) in 44.5% of samples was 26-30 kg/m 2 , 54.5% had diploma and associate degree. 63.6% lived in urban areas. 74.5 % of patients reported primary infertility. History of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOs) and pelvic infl ammatory disease (PID) and poor ovarian reserve were the most common causes and risk factors for the infertility with prevalence 19.42%, 16.81% and 13.91%, respectively. Most underlying disease was thyroid disorders (54.5%). There was found statistically signifi cant relationship between residents of urban areas and infertility duration, endometriosis and educational levels, miscarriage with thyroid. Data analysis performed using IBM SPSS 21 software and Chi-Square test (p < 0.05). Conclusion:The results showed that women with infertility in north of Iran were more likely to be older, less educated, and also had overweight. They are more possible to have ovarian disorders. In these area, thyroid disease more common like Iodine defi cient regions. Future research should be focused on the reasons why majority of women don't seek treatment for the underline signifi cant diseases that may be eff ects on ovarian function and fertility.
Background and Purpose:Violence is defined as unnecessary hostile behavior in clinical environments, which may lead to psychological abuse by colleagues. This systematic review aimed to evaluate violence and its associated factors among nurses. Methods:In this study, we searched for articles and patented documentations published until December 2014 via databases such as PubMed, Medline, Scopus, Google Scholar, Iranian Journal Database (Magiran), Scientific Information Database (SID), IranMedex and Iranian Biomedical Journal. Using keywords such as violence, horizontal violence, lateral violence, prevalence, predisposing factors and bullying, we found 84 articles out of 19,000 search results. Results: Violence has a variable definition in different cultures. Violent behavior in clinical environments is influenced by factors such as age, gender, work experience, work shifts, working hours and employment status of medical staff. In nurses, violence could lead to adverse outcomes, such as physical and psychological damages. Conclusion:According to the results of this study, male and younger nurses are more frequently exposed to violent behavior compared to female and elder nurses. Therefore, nurses should be informed on the adverse effects of violent behavior. In this regard, authorities and management of medical centers should show zero tolerance for violent behaviors on behalf of nursing staff. This systemic review was conducted via searching in databases such as PubMed, Medline, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar using keywords such as violence, horizontal violence, lateral violence, violence definition, prevalence, predisposing factors, bullying, nursing and nurse. Keywords were selected based on previous Author's contributions K Jafari and MA Heidari Gorji have contributed to the designing, writing, revising and approving the final manuscript. Background: There is an increasing trend to use intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) for new indications, mainly off-labeled conditions for numerous diseases. IVIG is an expensive drug and is occasionally not available, so it is recommended that medical centers evaluate how to use it permanently. This study aimed to assess the pattern of IVIG use in an educational hospital. Methods: All patients who received IVIG for any condition for a year were enrolled in this cross-sectional observational study. A predesigned checklist form was used to gather demographic, clinical, and biochemical data. The collected data were compared to the FDA recommendations for IVIG use. Results: Overall, in 62.8% of the patients, IVIG was administrated for FDAapproved indications, 21.2% for off-label uses, and the remaining 16% for investigational conditions. The most common cause of IVIG use was for primary immunodeficiency disease (PID) in 22 patients (19.5%). The highest prevalence of primary diagnoses in patients receiving IVIG was immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). In addition, Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) (28.4%) and final diagnoses were ITP and Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) in 30% of patients. 26.5% of patients experienced side effects, and headache, fever and chills, and inflammation of the injection site were the most common adverse drug reactions. Conclusion: National or local drug protocols are needed to prescribe more rational IVIG utilization and assist physicians in using IVIG for approved or high evidence-based indications.
